It seems we can’t go anywhere these days without running into the hype surrounding the Royal Wedding: Who will Kate wear? Will she choose an up-do or sport her signature flowing locks? What about a tiara? What will the bridesmaids’ dresses look like? Oh, and those classic English hats…!
So, yes, we’ve jumped on the bandwagon, because, well, following weddings is fun and…uh…our job! Sadly, Tirado Photography hasn’t been selected to shoot any royal weddings (come on, Harry! We’ll save the date for you!) so we’ve chosen to highlight our favorite iconic wedding dresses. Sure, there will be some that you’d expect, but a few others…well, you be the judge and let us know what you think.
Probably our favorite of all time: Grace Kelly. How can you not love this?

And another classic: Jacqueline Bouvier. Admittedly, though, Jackie would have looked stunning in a paper bag. This Ann Lowe wedding dress is hardly a paper bag, however.
Salma Hayek goes for a classic style but with a lot of bling and a modern twist. I just love bling at a wedding…
This Oscar de la Renta wedding dress looked beautiful on Jenna Bush (no comment on the photography. Like I said, we’re available for hire):
We looove Marilyn’s wedding choice for its simplicity and daring, given the time:
Alyson Hannigan mastered the bohemian-elegant look in this Badgley Mischka wedding dress. Buffy’s sidekick kicks ass, especially since I’m sure no one saw this pick coming:
And finally, she’s not a real celebrity and we’re loathe to promote reality show queens, but this dress by Jenny Lee is really quite lovely:
And now, to balance the good, we’re highlighting a few of our favorite “uglies.” Apologies to any of you who disagree…
As she says in the movie, “I’m a snow beast!”
I know there will be at least a few of you who consider Gwen Stefani’s dress choice super fashion forward. We just think it’s a hot mess. Dipped in pink and tulle. With a few beads and crystals and bows. And some lace. And red lipstick…
And finally, because it’s such a disaster:

We’re really looking forward to finally seeing what Kate chooses for her big day. Taking a cue from the plethora of photos plastered all over the web, Kate’s not really a “fashion miss” kind of girl so maybe next year she’ll be added to our favorites. We have a whole lot of our own brides who could be added here as well. So let wedding season begin!! And keep checking back for all those beautiful Boston brides and their spectacular gowns!
