Something Old, Something New…

After much anticipation (mostly from me) we are excited to unveil the new website! It’s an updated, cleaner, easier to navigate version and we hope you like it! Surely there will be tweaks here and there as we watch how you all interact, so please send along your thoughts on how we can do even better (and, god forbid, if there’s a page that’s not loading or – gulp – a broken link).

More weddings and portrait sessions will be posted on the blog soon so come back often and refer your friends!

Portraits, Pretty Flowers, & Playgrounds

On a sunny Sunday at the end of April we met the Dennison family at Castle Island in South Boston. We’ve photographed Audrey and Chase before, but mom and dad wanted to pause again and freeze this moment in time.

When we arrived, Audrey wasn’t all that gung-ho on the idea of having her picture taken once more – it was windy and a bit cold, her shoes weren’t staying on properly, mom wanted to secure her hair with a barrette….lots of trials and tribulations for a little one! But as soon as we climbed the hill and Audrey saw the pretty flowers (dandelions), she was off and running and yelling “FLOWERS!” Always a lady, she picked one for each of us and presented is as a gift.

Chase required a touch more time to warm up. He wasn’t quite as sure of the camera as his big sister but he dutifully followed her as she ran through the grass. Eventually he forgot about being the subject of a portrait session, let loose running as fast as his legs would allow, and gave us a few big ol’ smiles!

“Fashions fade, style is eternal:” Our Favorite Wedding Dresses!

It seems we can’t go anywhere these days without running into the hype surrounding the Royal Wedding: Who will Kate wear? Will she choose an up-do or sport her signature flowing locks? What about a tiara? What will the bridesmaids’ dresses look like? Oh, and those classic English hats…!

So, yes, we’ve jumped on the bandwagon, because, well, following weddings is fun and…uh…our job! Sadly, Tirado Photography hasn’t been selected to shoot any royal weddings (come on, Harry! We’ll save the date for you!) so we’ve chosen to highlight our favorite iconic wedding dresses. Sure, there will be some that you’d expect, but a few others…well, you be the judge and let us know what you think.

Probably our favorite of all time: Grace Kelly. How can you not love this?

And another classic: Jacqueline Bouvier. Admittedly, though, Jackie would have looked stunning in a paper bag. This Ann Lowe wedding dress is hardly a paper bag, however.

As she says in the movie, “I’m a snow beast!”

MBFGW Fashions fade, style is eternal: Our Favorite Wedding Dresses!I know there will be at least a few of you who consider Gwen Stefani’s dress choice super fashion forward. We just think it’s a hot mess. Dipped in pink and tulle. With a few beads and crystals and bows. And some lace. And red lipstick…Gwen Stefani Wedding Dress Fashions fade, style is eternal: Our Favorite Wedding Dresses! And finally, because it’s such a disaster:

We’re really looking forward to finally seeing what Kate chooses for her big day. Taking a cue from the plethora of photos plastered all over the web, Kate’s not really a “fashion miss” kind of girl so maybe next year she’ll be added to our favorites. We have a whole lot of our own brides who could be added here as well. So let wedding season begin!! And keep checking back for all those beautiful Boston brides and their spectacular gowns!

Childhood Sweethearts Share Their Seaside Wedding: Lauren & Ian

For all you New Englanders: How often do you hear the words “abundant sunshine” in a weather forecast? Fortuitously, that’s what Lauren heard on the news a few days before she was scheduled to marry Ian at a beautiful outside setting in Duxbury, MA. It’s only fitting that this warm and loving couple would land such a perfect day for their seaside wedding on The Cape. Here’s the story….

Lauren and Ian first met as teenagers in high school. Many miles and long distance calls later, Ian planned a major surprise proposal at Lauren’s family’s home. Because “home” carries so many wonderful memories, the couple decided to hold their wedding there on an August day that did, in fact, bring abundant sunshine.

Lauren worked hard to incorporate many personal touches into their wedding day – her grandmother’s antique Mikimoto broach worn in her hair, the scrimshaw buttons on Ian’s blazer, a handmade rope “wedding” sign designed by a family friend, her father’s vintage Falcon Squire that carried Lauren and Bella (dad’s adorable dog) to the ceremony, the handwritten vellum envelopes containing New England wildflower seeds… Despite over 400 guests (!) the wedding managed to be intimate and avoid the cookie cutter.

We’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of many seaside weddings here in New England, but Lauren and Ian’s event struck exactly the right chord of refinement and fun. They’re such a wonderful couple and their personalities really shone through in every detail, every element of their wedding.

Jillian & Sean’s Fall Wedding at the Four Seasons Boston

Ever since their engagement session last summer we were looking forward to photographing Jillian and Sean’s October wedding at the Four Seasons. Such an infectious couple, we knew the bride would would be stunning, the decor fabulous, and the party – well, it was Jillian and Sean’s party! How could it not be fun (we’ve respectfully left out a few air guitar photos from this postingicon razz Jillian & Seans Fall Wedding at the Four Seasons Boston)?!? The color scheme for the wedding was dark red/crimson and played extremely well off the mahogany furniture and sparkling crystals and candles placed throughout the room, creating a romantic, elegant vibe. This couple really stepped up the glamour in every aspect of their planning…future brides, need I call attention to those earrings and shoes..??
