For all you New Englanders: How often do you hear the words “abundant sunshine” in a weather forecast? Fortuitously, that’s what Lauren heard on the news a few days before she was scheduled to marry Ian at a beautiful outside setting in Duxbury, MA. It’s only fitting that this warm and loving couple would land such a perfect day for their seaside wedding on The Cape. Here’s the story….
Lauren and Ian first met as teenagers in high school. Many miles and long distance calls later, Ian planned a major surprise proposal at Lauren’s family’s home. Because “home” carries so many wonderful memories, the couple decided to hold their wedding there on an August day that did, in fact, bring abundant sunshine.
Lauren worked hard to incorporate many personal touches into their wedding day – her grandmother’s antique Mikimoto broach worn in her hair, the scrimshaw buttons on Ian’s blazer, a handmade rope “wedding” sign designed by a family friend, her father’s vintage Falcon Squire that carried Lauren and Bella (dad’s adorable dog) to the ceremony, the handwritten vellum envelopes containing New England wildflower seeds… Despite over 400 guests (!) the wedding managed to be intimate and avoid the cookie cutter.
We’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of many seaside weddings here in New England, but Lauren and Ian’s event struck exactly the right chord of refinement and fun. They’re such a wonderful couple and their personalities really shone through in every detail, every element of their wedding.
