Jenn and Tommy are such a special couple to us! To begin with, we’ve known them since August of 2007 when they first contacted us about photographing an engagement session and also their wedding. Since they were planning a wedding for Valentine’s Day in 2009, we had a lot of time to get to know each other and really fall in love with them. We photographed their engagement session almost right after meeting them in October of 2007 and we knew this was one special couple when they told us they were up to trying something different for their engagement session. How different, we wanted to know. They thought about it and said they thought doing an engagement session at sunrise would be a fun! Jenn’s a morning person, which definitely helps and we were so on board! We blogged about their sunrise session here…
We had so much fun with them and then stayed in touch for the next year and a half as the plans for their fabulous wedding came together. Not only did we quickly fall in love with Jenn and Tommy, it turns out they have one of the warmest families we’ve ever met, too! A couple of weeks before the wedding, Jenn stopped by the studio with her mom and after about 5 minutes, I felt as though I had found a long lost friend. We were laughing and giggling that you wouldn’t believe. And that carried right over to the wedding day with the rest of Jenn and Tommy’s family. Jenn’s adorable little brother, Patrick, was not going to be at the entire wedding, so we wanted to make sure and capture as many portraits and candids of him early in the day. While Jenn was getting ready, I caught this little cuddly moment that Patrick was having as he was getting dressed:

Meanwhile, Rene was capturing his own images of cute kids while Tommy was getting ready. Could this be the most adorable flower girl and ringbearer you’ve ever seen?

A sharp dressed little man in his winter coat can do no wrong….

And I absolutely love this great portrait of Tommy’s dad just as they were getting ready to leave for the ceremony:

Jenn is not the kind of girl who will do something just because it’s tradition or because that’s how everyone else does it. She was adamant from the very beginning that she did not want a limo to take her and the girls to the church for the ceremony. So instead, they rented a beautiful Bentley which transported Jenn, her girls and her mom in true style. The best part is that a Bentley does not have tinted windows. And as we followed behind them, I kept laughing at all of the cars that would pass and take pictures of them in the car. It was great!

After a gorgeous ceremony at St. Patrick’s church in Stoneham where Jenn and Tommy exchanged beautiful – and very emotional – vows, we all made our way under a spectacularly blue sky to the Andover Country Club in Andover, MA. We had the entire country club to ourselves and that made it so much fun to find great little spots for Jenn and Tommy’s portrait session. Although it was freezing outside, the bright blue sky and setting sun was far too tempting for all of us and we made our way outside to take advantage of it. Jenn, being the smart bride that she is, planned ahead for exactly this situation and brought along a fur coat that she borrowed from a friend of hers, Kerri – who also happens to be one of our brides we photographed in 2004! (Happy anniversary, Kerri and Jay!!)
We had so much fun playing with Jenn and Tommy during their portrait session. They were up for anything! And it was really hard to pick out a few favorites for the blog. Here’s my gorgeous girl, Jenn, just glowing like you wouldn’t believe:

And at the very same moment that I took that last image, Rene interpreted his vision of the scene this way:
Tommy has the best smile and what I love more than anything is how he knows just how to touch Jenn’s arm or waist, so subtly, to say something – without actually saying anything. I was so amazed to see them together and how perfectly they communicated with each other.

Once Jenn and Tommy were introduced into the reception, the entire evening was filled with laughing and fun. A completely unexpected highlight was when Jenn’s uncle and dad, joined the band (Men in Black) onstage for a few songs! Jenn’s dad completely rocked the drums and her uncle mastered all of the vocals. It was amazing and I don’t think there was an inch of space left on the dance floor as everyone cheered them on.

Everyone got in on the fun and danced – they sounded great!

And I couldn’t end this blog entry without showing off a piece of the candy buffet they had set up for their guests – so appropriate for a Valentine’s Day wedding!
It was such a magical evening and the best part for us was getting to see Jenn and Tommy completely enjoy the entire day and really soak in every single minute of it. They deserved it so much and deserve every ounce of happiness coming their way. Thank you a million times for letting us be there with you. We can’t wait to see you again in just a couple of weeks!
