Kate - an urban senior session

We met up with Kate, her mom and then her dad for a senior session in downtown Boston recently. Kate’s getting ready to start her senior year in Quincy and wanted to get a jump on her senior photos since senior year is always a whirlwind of fun and excitement. I so miss my senior year in high school! I think it might have been the only year that I actually enjoyed going to school! :)

Anyways we had an fabulous time with Kate and absolutely LOVE photographing her. Kate, what can we say? I can now completely verify that all those nights of watching America’s Next Top Model totally paid off for you! You definitely worked it like a true pro! See what I mean?

We definitely can’t wait to see you again soon!

Little Caroline is on the way!

We have photographed Angela and her husband Artie so many times now that I suspect that might be able to call themselves professional models by now!

Our latest session together is for one of the most special reasons of all - they’re waiting for the arrival of their very first baby. Baby Caroline will be making her family debut very soon and we were so excited to get together with Angela and Artie for a maternity session last week! Here were just a couple of our favorites from the session (it was so hard to pick!):

We took all of these images in right in baby Caroline’s newly finished bedroom. Every little last detail is set in place and ready for her big arrival. Even her closet is completely stocked with the most adorable little dresses and teeny shoes. It was so wonderful to be able to photograph this session for Angela and Artie and we are breathlessly awaiting Caroline’s arrival right along with them!

Laura and Brendan - a summer wedding at the Barn at Gibbet Hill

So we’ve been dying to share the images from Laura and Brendan’s wedding! Our very own Jeff Newcum photographed the wedding and was assisted by the uber-talented Stacey Doyle and they had an absolutely fabulous time spending the day with Laura and Brendan.

Laura and Brendan are one of the sweetest couples you could ever meet and all of their planning and hard work completely paid off when they were able to relax and enjoy and absolutely beautiful day with all of their closest friends and family. We have a ton of images to share, so sit back and enjoy!

The day began with Laura and her bridesmaids getting ready at her parents’ home. Earlier in the day, Laura had written a very special thank you note to her flower girl and gave it to her just as the finishing touches were being done on her hair:

Then everyone gathered at the church and waited for the ceremony to begin. I absolutely adore this next moment that Laura had with her dad. It was just seconds before the doors opened for their grand entrance. Can’t you just feel the love? What an incredibly special moment that neither of them will ever forget…

After a beautiful ceremony, Laura and Brendan arranged for a fabulous vintage Rolls Royce to take them to the reception. There’s something just so timeless and classic about a beautifully preserved Rolls.

And I fell in love with this beautiful image of the car making its way along the twisty country roads. (This was made possible only because of Jeff’s adorable little smart car convertible, by the way… :) )

Laura and Brendan had their reception about the very beautiful Barn at Gibbet Hill. Everything about this venue makes it a perfect summer location for a wedding. The golden fields, the rustic barn, the beautiful scenery - it’s fabulous!

And the best thing is that Jeff, Stacey and Laura and Brendan took full advantage of all of those great elements with their portrait session. The images are just absolutely breathtaking:

By the way…did you know that some of the fences around the property are electrified?? They are! See??

And now back to Laura and Brendan! I’m completely in love with this image by Jeff:

And now for something a little fun:

Once the reception started, it was completely non-stop fun and dancing with everyone having the time of their lives. And here’s a great little moment between Laura and Brendan:

And I had to share this great image by Stacey of the outside of the Barn at night - such a perfect way to end the evening!

We are SO excited about starting on your album soon, Laura and Brendan! And a very special thank you to Jeff and Stacey for completely rocking it yet again!!

A Boston engagement session

So even though Deena and Kris haven’t picked a wedding date just yet, we’ve already gotten together for a fabulous engagement session with them! As a matter of fact, they were engaged on June 28th and by June 29th we had already heard the great news and had set up an engagement session for them!

I should probably back up our story just a bit… we first meet Deena and Kris when Deena was a bridesmaid in Nicole and Matt’s wedding last summer. We really hit it off with Deena that day and just stayed in touch with each other after the wedding. Deena and I kept joking around about whether anyone would think it odd if she booked a photographer for her wedding before she was even engaged. (We both agreed that would be totally acceptable, by the way! :) )

Anyways, because we had been chatting for so long, we were so excited to hear the news when they got engaged just a few weeks ago! Kris completely surprised Deena by asking her to marry him while they were on a hike in Maine. They go hiking a lot (with their adorable dog) and so Kris really picked the perfect location to propose. Unfortunately, the fog and clouds were SO thick that day, that you literally couldn’t see more than 10 feet in front of you. You can just imagine the gorgeous backdrop at the summit just after Kris proposed, but those clouds and fog completely had them surrounded! What makes this an even better story, though, was that a stranger happened to walk by just after they got engaged and offered to take a picture with their camera. They soon found out that this man had proposed to his wife 10 years earlier at the same exact location. It was just perfect!

Although it was really cloudy and foggy the day that Kris proposed, there was nothing but bright sun and beautiful blue sky on the day of their engagement session. Since they live in historic Beacon Hill, Kris and Deena asked if we could meet them on the Esplanade in Boston and then walk around their neighborhood for their session. We really couldn’t have imagined a better location for them. And so here are some of our favorites from that afternoon…

Kris looking every bit as cool as he is in real life on a dock by the Charles River…

Kris’ mom actually made a beautiful silk dress for Deena just for their engagement session. It’s absolutely stunning and fit Deena so perfectly (there’s just nothing like a custom tailored dress…)

A little fun with Shadows and some bold colors…

And you know how much we love our alley ways - and the alleys in Beacon Hill are of course every bit as beautiful as the neighborhood itself. We found this gorgeous ivy covered wall in one and couldn’t resist having some fun…

We had SUCH an amazing time with these guys and can’t wait to for their wedding! Right now the plan is for a 2010 wedding, but you’ll definitely see this couple before then. They’ll be making their television debut very soon when they’re featured on a show on HGTV - filming begins in just a couple of weeks! We’re super excited for them and the producers will even be using a few of the images from their engagement session on the show! Stay tuned….

Sindhu and Ajit’s beautiful wedding honoring family and tradition

Just a couple of weeks after getting together with Sindhu and Ajit for an engagement session (you can see them here…), their wedding day arrived and we were so excited to see them again!

We knew just from chatting with them over the past couple of months that their wedding would be very unique and very special to them. Their ceremony and reception would include many traditions honoring their family and backgrounds and it was just such an honor to be able to document not only the traditions themselves, but the very close bond they have with their immediate family. There’s really no better way to explain it all than will some images so let’s get to it!

I began the afternoon with Sindhu, her mom and all of her bridesmaids as they got dressed and ready for the ceremony. Here, Sindhu was finishing with those last few details before we left…

Meanwhile, Rene and Ajit were at the church with the rest of the groomsmen waiting for the ceremony to begin in a back room at the church …

After a beautiful and very unique ceremony, everyone headed to the Newton Marriott for the cocktail hour and reception. The Marriott was a perfect location for Sindhu and Ajit since they needed to accommodate nearly 300 guests - many of whom were traveling from out of town!

We took some time for another private session with just Sindhu and Ajit and had an absolute blast with them. I love this next sequence of images because it really shows why Sindhu and Ajit are just a gorgeous couple. They’re both just stunning to begin with, but combined with their wonderful personalities and truly caring spirit, you can’t help but fall in love with them as soon as you meet them. These next few images capture them beautifully - it was a great moment when they burst out laughing after joking around during our session:

Once the reception began, there were so many beautiful details and ceremonies to capture…Here is a beautiful moment during their first dance:

And after Sindhu changed into a gorgeous sari during the reception, a special performance was prepared just for them. The colors and the choreography were just incredible!

Sindhu and Ajit have just returned from two weeks in Fiji and we’re dying to hear all about it! In the meantime, we just have to thank you again for letting us be there with you and capture your wedding!

A beautiful summer wedding with Laura and Adam

Laura and Adam had an absolutely gorgeous summer wedding last weekend. The weather was perfect, the sun was shining and everyone looked stunning! Here are some details that we couldn’t wait to post about!

As usual, Rene and I split up and we each spent some time with Laura and Adam as they got ready before the ceremony. Adam’s family and his groomsmen were with him and everyone enjoyed a pre-cermeony toast by Adam’s mom just before leaving for the church:

Rene also got some fabulous portraits of Adam, too. We both love this next one so we knew it was a “must” for the blog!

Meanwhile, back at Laura’s house, the girls were all getting ready as were Laura’s mom and dad. While in Laura’s room, just before she got dressed, I saw something that made me giggle out loud. For everyone who knows Laura, she’s probably the most organized person you’ll meet. So seeing this “To Do” list on her dresser should definitely come as no surprise at all:

We see all different kinds of unique dresses every single week and one of my favorite parts of the day is getting to see what dress we’ll get to photograph that day. I saw Laura’s dress and just got so excited - it’s STUNNING. Laura is so gorgeous and has the most perfect shape for her gown and so the result was just exquisite. Here, her mom was expertly tying up the corseted back:

Laura and Adam were able to pull a few strings and had their ceremony at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Worcester. It’s such a breathtaking and very grand cathedral and an extraordinary place to have a ceremony. After the ceremony, Laura and Adam said they’d like to have a couple of portraits of the two of them in the cathedral showing off it’s grandeur. It just so happened that as the ceremony ended and their guests exited the church, the most amazing ray of light fell through one of the large stained glass windows. (Rene and I get very excited about rays of light! :) ) So we all ran over to that very spot, took this portrait and within minutes, the ray of light had moved on. It was just gorgeous:

We then headed over the the Charter Oak Country Club for their reception and for a few more portraits of Laura and Adam and their wedding party. When we got together with Laura and Adam just before the wedding, Adam was brainstorming with us about some possible ideas for a very cool guy portrait that he could use in his “man room.” I love the end result!!

Laura and Adam just returned from their honeymoon and we’re so excited about getting started on their album together! Thank you so much for having so much fun with us - and we can’t wait to see you again in just a few weeks!
