The Shanahan Family - two years later!

One of our favorite parts of photographing families and kids is seeing everyone again each year and watching our favorite families grow up. You might remember seeing the Shanahan family on our blog a couple of years ago (you can read about our session with them again here…). We had such an amazing time with their gorgeous family (of seven!) last time and so we were so excited when Jen called us to schedule another session. This time, though, she had an extra little challenge for us. All of their extended family were going to be in town over a recent weekend and they wanted to include everyone in the session. It was fabulous getting to meet everyone and watching all of the little cousins play together. So we all met up at a park in Arlington on a recent Sunday morning and we had an absolute blast!

In addition to photographing each family on their own, we wanted to capture some great images of every little one that was there. That was the fun part - photographing each of them while they were running around, playing, or having a tea party!

And then here’s the Shanahan family two years later! We couldn’t believe how much everyone had grown up since the last time we saw them!!

Jen, you are such a doll for organizing everyone’s schedule so we could get together! We had such an amazing time with you again and can’t wait to see your gorgeous family again soon!

Andrea and Dan’s beautiful wedding at the Gamble Mansion in Boston

We have been so excited to post about Andrea and Dan’s wedding. We started talking about what images we would post on the blog while we were on our way home at the end of the evening!

Andrea and Dan had a beautiful ceremony at St. Catherine of Genoa in Somerville and then their reception was at the beautiful Gamble Mansion in downtown Boston. We started the day, though, by spending some time with them as they got ready in their hotel rooms:

And the beautiful, beautiful Andrea arriving at the church for their ceremony:

Their church was absolutely beautiful and Andrea and Dan decided to take all of their family formals there right after the ceremony which worked out so perfectly. We also took advantage of the beautiful backdrop for a gorgeous portrait of the newly married Andrea and Dan!

Part of what made Andrea and Dan’s day so special was being surrounded by their close friends and family who are just as warm and loving as they are. Their wedding party was just so much fun to be around and we all had a blast together. Seriously….how can you not have fun when you’re around a flowergirl who is this excited?

The original plan of action was to take all of their wedding party formals as well as have their own session in the Boston Public Gardens (where Dan proposed to Andrea not too long ago!) and then walk over to the nearby Gamble Mansion for their reception. That didn’t quite work out as planned, though, since the warm summer rains came through and we needed to quickly come up with a Plan B. So we headed over to the Gamble Mansion directly for their photos and we just couldn’t help but say over and over again how happy we were that things worked out the way that they did! Our portrait session with just Andrea and Dan was so fabulous and Rene and I were on such a high - we couldn’t wait to show them how it turned out! The mansion is beautiful and has so many great architectural details that we just had so much fun with, and Andrea and Dan just really couldn’t be more amazing to photograph. Here’s a little peek at some of the images we created together:

If you’ve never seen the Gamble Mansion, it’s really such a treat to visit and absolutely one of the most elegant locations for a wedding. This was the beautiful scene that greeted their guests as they entered the main dining room:

Everyone had such an amazing time all evening long. Andrea and Dan are FABULOUS dancers and treated their guests to a first dance that no one will forget for a long time! And it really set the tone for the rest of the evening. And here’s one of their fun-loving flower girls again helping to take a photo of Andrea and Dan. I can so relate to this image…half the fun of taking a photo is getting excited about the results with your subjects!

Before the evening ended, we decided to sneak outside with Andrea and Dan for one list mini-session on beautiful Commonwealth Ave in Boston:

Andrea and Dan are already back from their dream honeymoon in Europe and the photos they’ve shown us so far are amazing! We can’t wait to see you again soon!

Skylar’s session at the Public Garden in Boston

The last few weeks have been an absolute whirlwind of weddings and portraits and some really great images. So we definitely need to let all of our faithful blog readers catch up on what we’ve been doing!

Let’s first start with a session we just had with adorable little Skylar. We’ve known Sklyar’s mom and dad for a while and we’ve been so excited about finally getting together for a session with them. Their little pint sized beauty definitely has a dynamic personality already and she’s such an incredible charmer. We had her session in the Public Garden in Boston and she made so many new friends in the park. Everyone wanted to stop and chat with her all afternoon as we’d pass by.

We spent the afternoon running around the park (literally!) and here are some of our favorites from our session:

There’s nothing more exhilarating than a great game of tag!

Maybe it’s because my hair is so pin straight, but I’ve always dreamed about beautiful curls lke these. And Skylar wears them just so perfectly!

And those eyes!

Skylar showing off some of her cool finds in the park…

You can definitely see what I mean about that fun personality that she already has! We had SUCH an amazing time with Skylar - we didn’t want the afternoon to end! But we’ll definitely be doing it all again soon… especially since Skylar’s going to be a big sister in December. Congratulations again Lenny and Danielle!!

Kate - an urban senior session

We met up with Kate, her mom and then her dad for a senior session in downtown Boston recently. Kate’s getting ready to start her senior year in Quincy and wanted to get a jump on her senior photos since senior year is always a whirlwind of fun and excitement. I so miss my senior year in high school! I think it might have been the only year that I actually enjoyed going to school! :)

Anyways we had an fabulous time with Kate and absolutely LOVE photographing her. Kate, what can we say? I can now completely verify that all those nights of watching America’s Next Top Model totally paid off for you! You definitely worked it like a true pro! See what I mean?

We definitely can’t wait to see you again soon!

Little Caroline is on the way!

We have photographed Angela and her husband Artie so many times now that I suspect that might be able to call themselves professional models by now!

Our latest session together is for one of the most special reasons of all - they’re waiting for the arrival of their very first baby. Baby Caroline will be making her family debut very soon and we were so excited to get together with Angela and Artie for a maternity session last week! Here were just a couple of our favorites from the session (it was so hard to pick!):

We took all of these images in right in baby Caroline’s newly finished bedroom. Every little last detail is set in place and ready for her big arrival. Even her closet is completely stocked with the most adorable little dresses and teeny shoes. It was so wonderful to be able to photograph this session for Angela and Artie and we are breathlessly awaiting Caroline’s arrival right along with them!

Laura and Brendan - a summer wedding at the Barn at Gibbet Hill

So we’ve been dying to share the images from Laura and Brendan’s wedding! Our very own Jeff Newcum photographed the wedding and was assisted by the uber-talented Stacey Doyle and they had an absolutely fabulous time spending the day with Laura and Brendan.

Laura and Brendan are one of the sweetest couples you could ever meet and all of their planning and hard work completely paid off when they were able to relax and enjoy and absolutely beautiful day with all of their closest friends and family. We have a ton of images to share, so sit back and enjoy!

The day began with Laura and her bridesmaids getting ready at her parents’ home. Earlier in the day, Laura had written a very special thank you note to her flower girl and gave it to her just as the finishing touches were being done on her hair:

Then everyone gathered at the church and waited for the ceremony to begin. I absolutely adore this next moment that Laura had with her dad. It was just seconds before the doors opened for their grand entrance. Can’t you just feel the love? What an incredibly special moment that neither of them will ever forget…

After a beautiful ceremony, Laura and Brendan arranged for a fabulous vintage Rolls Royce to take them to the reception. There’s something just so timeless and classic about a beautifully preserved Rolls.

And I fell in love with this beautiful image of the car making its way along the twisty country roads. (This was made possible only because of Jeff’s adorable little smart car convertible, by the way… :) )

Laura and Brendan had their reception about the very beautiful Barn at Gibbet Hill. Everything about this venue makes it a perfect summer location for a wedding. The golden fields, the rustic barn, the beautiful scenery - it’s fabulous!

And the best thing is that Jeff, Stacey and Laura and Brendan took full advantage of all of those great elements with their portrait session. The images are just absolutely breathtaking:

By the way…did you know that some of the fences around the property are electrified?? They are! See??

And now back to Laura and Brendan! I’m completely in love with this image by Jeff:

And now for something a little fun:

Once the reception started, it was completely non-stop fun and dancing with everyone having the time of their lives. And here’s a great little moment between Laura and Brendan:

And I had to share this great image by Stacey of the outside of the Barn at night - such a perfect way to end the evening!

We are SO excited about starting on your album soon, Laura and Brendan! And a very special thank you to Jeff and Stacey for completely rocking it yet again!!
