Lan and John’s engagement session

Meet Lan and John! We met this fantastic duo after their good friends, Gina and John, recommended that they come talk to us after we photographed their own wedding in December of 2004. Actually, the images from Gina and John’s wedding are still hanging up in our gallery AND that opening image on our website of a couple kissing? Well, that’s Gina and John, too! We knew that we would love anyone that was friends with them and, as predicted, we really connected with Lan and John, too.

So they will be getting married next June and are having their reception at the beautiful Ballroom Veronique in Boston, and they decided to have their engagement session during peak foliage season right in their hometown. We all picked last Sunday as “the” date and it was absolutley perfect! We met them at their beautiful apartment in Melrose and never even left their neighborhood. We spent all morning exploring the alley behind their building (that’s where we took the image at the top of this entry!!), a fire station, a park, a church and everywhere else we could find! Here are some more of our other favorites…

Since we picked last Sunday specifically so we would get some great foliage, it’s be a shame to not show some of it off!

I absolutely adore Lan’s engagement ring. (Nicely done, John!!) I got this image of it while they were busy being fashion models for Rene:

And on our way back to their place, we found a very cool red and orange building that we just had to have some fun with:

And we have lots more planned when they get married in June!!

Amber and Adam

We just enjoyed an absolutely gorgeous day with Amber and Adam at their wedding this past weekend! They had an intimate and VERY elegant wedding at the Omni Parker House in downtown Boston. It was such a beautiful setting! One thing I realized recently is that we don’t post very many images from the ceremony on the blog! So I wanted to change that with Amber and Adam’s entry. They had such an intimate and personal ceremony and it was emotional for everyone there. Here’s an image of Amber walking down the aisle with her dad:

Amber and Adam had decided before the wedding that they definitely wanted to attend their entire cocktail hour. But it was also important for them that they spend a lot of time with just Rene and I for their own photos. And they definitely didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony. So they decided to have a two hour gap in between the ceremony and the reception so that their guests could back to the hotel and relax and so that we could have some fun around the city! Adam is actually in the process of getting -ready for it? - a double masters at MIT! And since the campus is so beautiful and right on Memorial Drive, that was our first stop. We got there just as the sun was starting to set over the skyline and we had some of the best light of the day to play with. Here are just some of favorites!

.

I just love the reflection of the skyline right in the door in that last one.

.

And a little fun with shadows…

.

We then headed to the Omni Parker House for some more photos around the hotel and at Old City Hall. And we couldn’t resist stopping a little traffic for some old Hollywood-style action:

.

And then we decided to have a little fun with their wedding bands, too:

Adam and Amber spent a long weekend in beautiful Nantucket and are already back home - but now they beginning planning their extended honeymoon that they’ll be going on in December. Have fun!

More changes at Tirado Photography

This is a year filled with changes for us! We’ve already posted about the physical changes to the outside of the office when we did all of that landscaping work. I know a lot of you have been asking for photos and I promise to post some very soon! Everything is finally done and I just need to go out and take the “after” photos.  Our next big project will be to tackle the inside, including a new gallery and jazzing up our meeting area as well - very exciting!

But now you may have noticed from our last few blog entries that we’ve also made some changes to our logo and blog as well! Rene’s been working on our new logo for a few months now and we’re so excited to be finally using it! You should start to see it appearing on our letters and photos soon!

Gillian and Josh!

Okay, get ready for another blog entry with lots of images! It was completley useless for us to try and pick our favorite images from this weekend! When we first met Gillian and Josh there was no doubt that we just clicked. We actually spent over two hours together at our first meeting!! Maybe 1/2 hour was spent talking about their wedding. The rest of the time we talked about EVERYTHING else. When they left we knew we had found some great friends and couldn’t wait to see them again. Gillian is an avid photographer herself and has some her amazing images hanging up around their home. Josh is an architect and so the two of them love anything artistic.

When we got together with them for their engagement session, we learaned just how much fun these two have with each other. I kid you not when I say they laugh SO much together. And I truly believe that makes their relationship so strong. There’s no doubt that Gillian and Josh are best friends and that they just love being around each other!

Rene and I split up early in the day so we could spend time with both Gillian and Josh while they were getting ready. It was so much fun. Gillian loves photographing body parts - individual body parts and she has a GREAT eye for it. Gillian is also absolutely gorgeous and so I thought I would take advantage and get a few of my own close up images of her:

The boys on the other hand were taking a completely different route:

Josh and the guys hang out out Dunkin Donuts all the time, so there was no chance that they would overlook that tradition on Josh’s wedding day. Did you catch that reflection in Josh’s sunglasses. Nice, Rene!

They had their ceremony and reception at the beautiful Gibbet Hill. It was our first time there and knowing Gillian and Josh the way we do, we already knew it was going to be an incredibly unique location. We loved it! They had their ceremony right outside overlooking these beautiful hills - that had real cows grazing on it! Here’s a view of the ceremony set up:

Speaking of the cows — can I just tell you how hard it is to keep a straight face in the middle of a solemn ceremony when the cows are loudly moo-ing in the background. Poor Josh and Gillian - and everyone else in attendance - were fighting back the giggles throughout the ceremony! It was such a beautiful setting, though. I’m so happy everything was able to happen outside for them because it was just perfect for their ceremony. Here are a few more of our favs from the wedding:

First a little proof that making sure you have those Shout wipes handy may not be a wasted effort!

And we need to share the absolutely AMAZING cake they had. It made you want to just touch each flower - it was so cool!

And here’s a great image of Gillian under the gorgeous trellis that they used at the ceremony.

Do you know what makes it even more beautiful? Josh made this with his own hands out of cedar especially for the ceremony. It is just so beautiful and now they have a permanent keepsake from their wedding that they can keep in the yard forever. Did I mention how talented Josh is?? Gillian asked for this trellis and so he made it just for her and so Rene took this image just for him. And here’s one of our favorite images of the two of them together:

It was so impossible for us to choose our “favorites” this week. They’re so stunning and love to have fun and we just could not decide. Seriously.

Finally, I wanted to give a shout out to Gillian and Josh’s great videographer, too. They had Michelle McNamara from Fresh Focus Productions. We’ve worked with her before and just love her work and she’s probably one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet, too! Here’s a shot of her in action:

You’ve got to love that juggling action going on - she can do it all!

So now Gillian and Josh are on a nice long trip to Tahiti! We’re dying to hear all about it when they get back but also can’t wait for them to get back and see the rest of their photos!!

Tara and Yohan’s engagement session

We spent an absolutely perfect Sunday morning with Tara and Yohan last week at their engagement session. I’ll admit it was tough for the four of us to all agree to meet early on a Sunday morning. We all agreed that Sunday mornings were really made for sleeping in. But since we were all determined to get together when the leaves were beautiful, and since that’s such a short window here - Sunday morning it was! And I have to tell you - it was the most perfect fall morning yet. It was nice and cool and sunny and really just perfect. We had the absolute best time together! Tara and Yohan wanted to meet at Great Brook Farm in Carlisle because it’s so beautiful there and because it’s where they were actually engaged! By the way, if anyone is at all interested in mountain biking, you should definitely check this place out. There are tons of trails there and Tara and Yohan actually go biking there all the time and say that the trails here are great! We spent all morning just walking around and finding great little spots all over the farm. Here are some of our favs!

And look at these leaves!! Definitely makes it so worth getting up early doesn’t it, guys?

So here’s what is probably my favorite image and I am still pretty giddy that I got it. We were walking down a trail to see what we could find and hoping that maybe we would find the exact spot that Yohan proposed. Well, the sun was just right and Rene and I were loving the shadows that appeared behind them as they were walking. Tara and Yohan were chatting about something and click:

Tara was actually just trying to see if she could do it. Totally random and we were just cracking up about it! Do you know that I can’t do this. Yes, I went home and tried it. I just can’t get this kind of air! But anyways, it made for a very funny morning. Speaking of that sun, though, we definitely decided to have some more fun with it:

And this is Rene’s last image of the day which is also one of my favs!

Tara and Yohan are getting married in just 51 more days!! It will be a completely different setting than their engagement session since they’ll be getting married in Cambridge and we’re already starting to get so excited about it!

Nicole and Ryan

We can’t believe they’re married!! We’ve been waiting a long time for this wedding! Nicole has been in two other weddings already that we photographed. Ashley and Ryan were married in July of last year and Kristin and Jon were married just a couple of months ago in July! Ashley, Kristin, Nicole and an entire crew of girlfriends all grew up together in Hanover. They’ve all been friends since pre-school and the beautiful thing is just how tight they all still are. Can I just tell you how much fun it was to walk into Nicole’s parents’ home that morning and run around hugging all the girls in the bridal party since we all knew each other from everyone else’s wedding. It was like coming home again. Seeing everyone’s parents’ and friends and relatives again was just amazing! And that’s really a testament to just how wonderful everyone there was.

And now it was Nicole and Ryan’s wedding day! They had their reception at the Granite Links country club which is a phenomenal location. It is NOT just another country club. It’s set way up high on a hill and you have stunning views of the Boston skyline in one direction and an amazing view of the setting sun in another. It was amazing! The weather was a bit….chilly up there on the mountain, though. Everyone was so great about pretending they weren’t freezing, though and we were able to get some amazing group photos! And Nicole and Ryan look like they just fell off the cover of a fashion magazine, so we just couldn’t stop running around the grounds with them. They timed everything just pefectly because the sun was just setting as we were taking formals with them and had such gorgeous light to play with. Here’s one of my favorite images that Rene took of Nicole’s eyes:

And here are some more of just Nicole and Ryan:

The image above is Rene’s view with the dramatic sky behind them. And here was my view from the other side on the ground…

That wind picking up Nicole’s veil was no joke. It was cold! It made for an incredible image, though, so THANK YOU for toughing it out with us, guys!

I love this next image, too. After we came inside, Rene actually found Ryan’s best man going over his speech one last time in the empty room…

And finally, I just wanted to introduce everyone to our brides! Ashley is on the left and she was married first (7/9/05), that’s Nicole in the middle (10/6/06), and Kristin on the right (7/14/06)!

We can’t wait for Nicole and Ryan to get back from their honeymoon soon so they can see the rest of the images. And we can’t wait to see everyone again!
