Nicole and Ryan

We can’t believe they’re married!! We’ve been waiting a long time for this wedding! Nicole has been in two other weddings already that we photographed. Ashley and Ryan were married in July of last year and Kristin and Jon were married just a couple of months ago in July! Ashley, Kristin, Nicole and an entire crew of girlfriends all grew up together in Hanover. They’ve all been friends since pre-school and the beautiful thing is just how tight they all still are. Can I just tell you how much fun it was to walk into Nicole’s parents’ home that morning and run around hugging all the girls in the bridal party since we all knew each other from everyone else’s wedding. It was like coming home again. Seeing everyone’s parents’ and friends and relatives again was just amazing! And that’s really a testament to just how wonderful everyone there was.

And now it was Nicole and Ryan’s wedding day! They had their reception at the Granite Links country club which is a phenomenal location. It is NOT just another country club. It’s set way up high on a hill and you have stunning views of the Boston skyline in one direction and an amazing view of the setting sun in another. It was amazing! The weather was a bit….chilly up there on the mountain, though. Everyone was so great about pretending they weren’t freezing, though and we were able to get some amazing group photos! And Nicole and Ryan look like they just fell off the cover of a fashion magazine, so we just couldn’t stop running around the grounds with them. They timed everything just pefectly because the sun was just setting as we were taking formals with them and had such gorgeous light to play with. Here’s one of my favorite images that Rene took of Nicole’s eyes:

And here are some more of just Nicole and Ryan:

The image above is Rene’s view with the dramatic sky behind them. And here was my view from the other side on the ground…

That wind picking up Nicole’s veil was no joke. It was cold! It made for an incredible image, though, so THANK YOU for toughing it out with us, guys!

I love this next image, too. After we came inside, Rene actually found Ryan’s best man going over his speech one last time in the empty room…

And finally, I just wanted to introduce everyone to our brides! Ashley is on the left and she was married first (7/9/05), that’s Nicole in the middle (10/6/06), and Kristin on the right (7/14/06)!

We can’t wait for Nicole and Ryan to get back from their honeymoon soon so they can see the rest of the images. And we can’t wait to see everyone again!

Laura and Sean

We met Laura a couple of years ago when her friends, Lauren and Juan, got married back on September 4, 2004. Lauren and Juan became good friends of ours and so when Laura and Sean were planning their wedding, they booked us as their photographers, as well! The six of us actually all got together for dinner one evening after they first booked and just had the best time and now nearly two years after that first wedding that started it all, Laura and Sean are married! It was so special for us to be there with these them after all this time. This is one truly special couple. They are not all about the glitz and the glam but instead all about just being in love. I don’t want that to sound trite, but this is really how you feel when you’re around them. All they wanted more than anything was to be married and have their friends and family be there to enjoy it with them.

We had to travel pretty far for this one! It was all the way in Brookfield, CT which is near the New York border, so this was a weekend event for us, which was so much fun! We started the day at Laura’s parents’ house in Trumbull, CT. They have an absolutely beautiful home with gorgeous landscaping and it was the perfect setting for Laura to get ready and also where she and Sean would see each other for the first time. When first we arrived, Laura was just having the finishing touches done on her hair and makeup. I got this image of her maid of honor, Janet, fighting back the tears after Laura’s the veil was put on:

I loved this next image as well of Laura getting dressed. Her dress fit her so perfectly - when they say it fit like a glove, I now know what that means. Her dress was made to perfectly fit her body. Problem is - when that’s the case, it sometimes requires a little bit of squeezing and pulling to make sure no skin is caught in that zipper! This was definitely a multi-handed task:

And Laura and Sean also decided to see each other before the ceremony. If you’ve been following our blog, you’re going to notice the same trend that we have which is that more and more of our couples have opting to do this! We absolutely loved Sean’s reaction when he first saw Laura. He was outside waiting by the pool for what I’m sure felt like an eternity, and then:

It was such a beautiful day and evening. They had their ceremony and reception at the Candlewood Inn and the ceremony was beautifully personal and very meaningful for them. Laura and Sean enjoyed some of their cocktail hour with their guests but they also made sure to just sneak away and spend some quiet time together as well. It was a perfect weekend for them and for their guests and we can’t even express how amazing it was for us to be there with them!
