Mia and Nate

We first met Mia and Nate last month when we photographed their aunt and uncle’s wedding. (You take a sneak peek at their wedding by looking for Nicole and Ryan in our October archives!)

We completely fell in love with Mia and Nate and were so thrilled when their mom, Stephanie, called us a few weeks later to ask us to come on over for a portrait session with them. It was great to see everyone again and we had so much fun with Mia and Nate. When we first walked in we found Mia sitting in her tights on the counter still getting ready. That’s when I discovered that Mia will do just about anything for the tickle of a blush brush. Who knew!! So Mia got dressed in her special dress from Nicole and Ryan’s wedding and then she was ready for her closeup:

.

Isn’t she just beautiful?? Now as much as Mia loves to be tickled with that little brush, we knew there had to be something that would get Nate to giggle, too. It turns out, Nate’s prized possessions are his stuffed animals - and especially this fantastic Mickey Mouse bear that is probably bigger than he is! Nate had no problem showing off his buddy to us here:

.

And of course we couldn’t leave without getting a few of them together! (Sometimes easier said than done - as all of you moms and dads of toddlers know!) But Mia and Nate were such troopers and we were able to get a whole series of images of them together including this one:

.

And all of that smiling and looking pretty is enough to make any model a little sleepy, so we’ll end with this little one catching up on her beauty rest as we tiptoed out the door…

.

We hope to see you all again soon!!

Holly and Dave

Oh wow - it was absolute torture having to pick out our “favorites” from Holly and Dave’s wedding this past Saturday! Holly and Dave are just such a great couple and we had been looking forward to their wedding for a long time! It’s always super exciting for us when a couple comes to us and says, “Do whatever you want with us - we trust you!” And that’s exactly what Holly and Dave did. As for the results…well, I’ll just let you all see for yourselves…

This is one of my favorites of Holly before the ceremony. She is just stunning and I couldn’t wait to get some images of her by herself. While we were at the house getting ready, I noticed this adorable little shed in the back yard and Holly didn’t even think twice about following me back there in her beautiful dress!

.

And here’s a little detail shot from the wedding. These earrings were Holly’s gift to all of the girls in the wedding party. They were absolutely gorgeous (as were the girls!):

.

And now for our favorite part of the day! Holly and Dave set aside a lot of time for photos of just the two of them alone and we were able to get SO many amazing images. They are such a gorgeous couple and so happy and FUN to be around that we really just couldn’t get enough images of them.

For this photo, we went outside just as the sun was sinking below the horizon…

.

I think that generally speaking, grooms are often not photographed as much at a wedding. Which is something I completely don’t understand. But Rene loves to be able to spend some time before the ceremony with the guys and get some great candids of them. And portraits of the groom are usually one of our favorite parts of the day, too. Dave was definitely incredible in front of the camera and I hope we didn’t wear him out getting all kinds of fun photos of him! Here’s one of my favorite photos - and a more dramatic one - of the handsome groom…

.

And a few more of the Holly and Dave together…

.

.

.

And I love this image from Rene showing off some of the sparkle on Holly (look at that ring!!):

.

And finally this one is probably one of my favorite images from the day! We were getting a few photos of Holly and Dave and anyone who has been in front of the camera knows that when you’ve been in a position for too long, sometimes you just need to “shake it off”. Well, we were doing a more serious, romantic shot and Holly just needed to laugh so bad. So as soon as she heard the shutter click on Rene’s camera, she just let that laugh come out. This has to be one of the most geniune, elated expressions I’ve seen - I love it!

.

Now here’s an interesting fact… With the exception of the first three images, all of the other photos that we’ve posted here were taken in a room that measures about 15′x15′. We just didn’t find the need to go roaming everywhere because we had everything we needed in that one little room. So never fear if you think there’s no where “special” to take photos of just the two of you! As a matter of fact, the majority of the images in the gallery in our studio were taken in alleys, in dark stairwells and other locations that you just may not think of as being “ideal.” But sometimes that’s exactly what we look for just so we can create something unique for you!

As for Holly and Dave…they are away on their honeymoon and hopefully not even thinking about any of us back home. We hope you guys are having a fantastic time and can’t wait to show you more when you get home!

Stephanie and Jon

What an incredibly cool and laid back couple these two are! We had such a great time at their wedding last Saturday and I know Stephanie has been stalking this blog to get a sneak peak at some of the results!!

Our day got off to a very exciting start when I arrived at Stephanie’s parents’ home and the first thing Stephanie blurted out when she saw me was, “Melissa, Jonathan was in the hospital all night!!” She says this as she’s calmly having her makup applied, by the way. That is so Stephanie! I was dying to hear what happened and so inbetween the brush strokes of mascara - all the while I was on pins and needles - I finally got the story. It turns out, Jon’s eye was completely swollen shut the night before so he went to the emegency room and discovered that he had developed a painful infection in his eye - on the evening before his wedding! The doctors treated him and gave him enough medicine to get through the wedding the next day and off we went!

I’m happy to report even with all of that excitement at the beginning of the day, the rest of the day went off so smoothly and perfectly. Their reception was right on the water on Boston Harbor and to top it all off we arrived right when the sun was setting! Here are just a couple of our favorites…

On our way to a dock on the water for some photos. (I just love the way Steph was holding her dress as she was walking here and how the wind was picking up her veil at just the right moment…)

.

And a few more…

.

.

Stephanie kept telling us that she was never comfortable in front of a camera, but after a few minutes you would have thought these were pros at it! We can’t wait for you to see the rest of your images soon!

Laura and Josh

.

We really enjoyed our wedding last week with Laura and Josh. This couple has to be one of the warmest couples we know. They are just so sweet and caring and, not surprisingly, their friends and family were exactly the same. It just must be so wonderful for them to know that so many people care of about them so much!

I started the day and Laura’s parents’ home and the very first person to greet me as I opened the door was their adorable little puppy. She looks just like a big snowball and the poor thing was just desperately trying to stay out of everyone’s way and out of the chaos! Here she is as she was watching Laura get dressed…

.

Now here’s Laura all dressed and ready to go and patiently waiting on the limo. The lighting coming in from the window was just perfect and I also love the fact that Laura had no idea it was being taken…

.

Meanwhile, Rene was with Josh and the guys at the church waiting for us to arrive. I love this candid just before everything got started. It’s Josh’s best man checking out the rings one last time…

.

It was really hard to believe that Laura and Josh got married in November since the weather outside was just gorgeous. Even though we arrived at the Charter Oaks Country Club after the sun set, we still went outside for some photos. There was a full moon and it was pretty cloudy which gave us a great dramatic backdrop like this one:

.

And finally, here’s one more of our favorite images. It was from at the end of the evening and it’s a perfect way to end this blog entry, too. We hope you guys are having a fantastic time on your honeymoon and we can’t wait for you to see the rest of your wedding!

Amy and Patrick

What a busy fall we’ve been having! I’ve been a little behind in posting on the blog because of it but I promise to catch up over the next couple of days for everyone!

First I need to post a few of our favorite images from Amy and Patrick’s wedding recently. I think part of the reason why we just love Amy and Patrick so much is because we have so much in common with them. Amy and Patrick both live with Type I Diabetes. As it turns out, my mom has had Type I Diabetes since I was a baby and so I’m also very involved in learning more about how to live with it. It was great to talk to a couple who is doing so well and living life to the fullest and not letting their Diabetes slow them down for one second.

And their wedding was absolutely gorgeous, too. And a very special part of the reception was when they had bagpipers from the Boston Fire Department (including Patrick’s own brother!) come in and perform for all of their guests. It was so amazing to see! Now here are just a couple of our favorites from that night!

First one of Amy relaxing a bit before the formals…

And we can’t forget the ever-suave Patrick…

.

We’re so excited for Amy and Patrick to see the rest of the images from that day (soon!) and we can’t wait to see you guys again!

A great senior session with Erin

I can’t believe the Class of 2007 has already ordered their cap and gowns and will be getting ready for commencement in just another few months! Another rite of passage is having your own senior session to remember all of the great moments in school. And to look back at how great you looked when you were in high school!

We met Erin just last week and didn’t need to go any further than her own living room and back porch for some really amazing images of her. Of course, we could have had her stand in a dirt pile in her basement and she would still look fabulous! Take a look at some of the highlights!

.

.

I was completely mesmerized by her eyes, too. And this lighting definitely helped to emphasize it even more:

.

Aren’t her eyes amazing? A few more…

.

.

Erin was such a perfect model and trusted us with all of our wacky ideas for her! Thanks for having fun with us, Erin! We wish you the best as you finish your senior year — and beyond!
