Liz and Jamie

I’m so excited to be posting about this wedding! It feels like we’ve been waiting forever for Liz and Jamie to get married. Which, of course, isn’t true. But it feels as though we’ve been friends with this fabulous couple forever and have been waiting for their wedding date for just as long. You may recognize Liz and Jamie from the very special beach session that we did back in September. Liz and Jamie took a train from New York city at 3AM and met us on the North Shore here in Massachusetts for this session!! Liz bought a dress for the occasion, Jamie was dressed in a great suit and they basically showed up and said, “Do whatever you want with us.” And that’s exactly what did! Take a look through our archives in September to take a peek at the incredible fun we had.

But enough about Septmeber — that was just a little tiny taste of the kind of fun we knew we’d have at their wedding on December 16. Liz and Jamie planned a winter themed wedding and they thought of absolutely everything to make it picture perfect. The only thing they forgot to do was pay just a little more hommage to Mother Nature. Because while the day dawned bright and beautiful…. it was also 50-something degrees. So Liz began her day in her beautiful wedding shoes, custom made winter sweatshirt — and her pink polka-dot shorts. It was just beautitful. I loved it! I especially loved that sweatshirt she wore that was custom made just for her:

Do you see the little snowflakes around her name? And did I mention how many fantastic little details Liz had thought of for their wedding?? They were married at one of the most beautiful old stone churches we’ve seen and everything was candlelit inside so it was just so romantic. As their guests approached the church they walked in between two rowes of luminaries with tealights burning inside. Gorgeous!

Then they had their reception at the Lakeview Pavillion. We’ve been there before so we knew it would be beautiful, but the staff really went above and beyond that night and really made it a special evening for both Liz and Jamie and their families. I can honestly go on and on, but instead, let me share a few of our favorite images from the wedding!

Here’s one of Jamie (who seriously should look into getting a contract at GQ or Men’s Vogue. He’s really good at well…looking good!):

And here’s another of Liz:

Having a little fun:

And now to show off Liz’ ring. I couldn’t keep my eyes off her hand all night and Jamie actually surprised her with an extra band for the set. As Liz said, “It’s completely obnoxious but I don’t care!!” And she definitely shouldn’t — it was just stunning on her hand. See?

There were so many things that made Liz and Jamie’s wedding speical and a LOT of it had to do with the friends and family that came to celebrate with them. They literally had friends that traveled from all over the world just to be there. We met friends from South Africa, from Australia, and from just about every corner of the world. The other thing that really stood out for us was being able to spend time with their families. Both Liz and Jamie’s families are just wonderful and I’m so happy that I got to spend so much time with Liz and her mom before the ceremony. They truly have such a beautifully close relationship. So thank you, thank you, thank you Liz and Jamie for letting us be a small part of your wonderful life together. We look forward to many more years of fun and laughter with you!

Tara and Yohan

Let me just introduce you all to one of the sweetest couples ever. You may remember actually Tara and Yohan from their engagement session in October. We spent an entire Sunday morning with them hiking and walking and doing a LOT of laughing. We had had no doubt that when their wedding arrived, we would be in for an incredibly fun day and they did not disappoint!

Tara and Yohan met while going to college at Boston College and - very appropriately - had their ceremony at St. Ignatius which is located right on the BC campus. When we first met with Tara and Yohan back in May, they told us that photography was going to be a very important piece of the wedding. Which is always great news to us! But we knew they were very serious when they told us that they left a 2.5 hour gap in between the end of the ceremony and the beginning of the cocktail hour so that we could have fun with their photos. And that’s exactly what we did! They also got to enjoy their entire cocktail hour as a result which was a huge bonus for them! They had their reception at the beautiful Hyatt in Cambridge and all of their guests (some of which traveled from very far away!) were treated to this spectacular view from their ballroom:

I also have to share their amazing cake - it’s undoubtedly of my favorite to date! Tara saw it a Martha Stewart magazine and asked Icing on the Cake in Newton to recreate - and they did! Here’s the beautiful end result:

Did you notice those great pillar candles on the ledge behind the cake? There were at least a dozen all lit up behind the cake and it just added to the incredibly beautiful and elegant ambiance. And look at those gorgeous peonies all around the cake. Tara loves peonies and was determined to incorporate them as much as she could in the wedding including in her own bouquet which just turned out so beautifully!

But moving on from the details, here are a few of our favorites of Tara and Yohan themselves! Here’s one that we took right on the BC campus. You know how obsessed we are with eyes and couldn’t let Tara’s crystal blue eyes go without any special attention:

And after having some fun right in the lobby of the hotel Rene got this great image of Tara and Yohan on their way up to the ballroom in the glass elevator:

And once we got to the top, we couldn’t resist using the incredible evening skyline as a backdrop.

There were just so many details that made Tara and Yohan’s wedding so unqiue. Yohan’s family is originally from Sri Lanka and they incorporated some beautiful traditions in their wedding such as a Sri Lankan candle lighting ceremony and Tara even changed into a sari at the end of the evening!

We had such an amazing time with them and our bellies hurt from laughing so hard with them. We truly feel like we’ve made some great friendships and we can’t wait to see everyone again soon!

UPDATE:  Tara and Yohan’s website is ready!  Enjoy!!

Heather and Peter

It’s only been 4 days since Heather and Peter’s wedding and we just couldn’t wait to post some of the highlights from their wedding! It was a North Shore hometown wedding for everyone - including us!

One of my favorite stories about Heather and Pete is how they met. You’ve heard of college sweethearts and even high school sweethearts. But have you ever heard of preschool sweethearts??? Heather and Pete met when they were both in the same pre-school class. Pete even proposed to Heather right in front of their preschool! It’s such a great story for them to have for the rest of their lives. And their north shore wedding was just perfect, too. It was elegant and warm (to make up for the very cold temperature outside!) and just so much fun for all of their guests. So now here are some of the highlights!

Rene began with Pete and his groomsmen at his parents’ home in Danvers. And that’s also when Peter opened this gift from Heather - a personalized hankerchief:

Meanwhile, I was with Heather and her bridemaids at her parents’ home in Nahant. I arrived just as the sun started to set and since Heather’s parents live right on the edge of the ocean, we were treated to a spectacular sunset. We completely took advantage of the beautiful light while Heather was getting ready. Here is a close of up Heather’s beautiful gown while her sister was helping her get dressed:

And the beautiful Heather:

The other thing that I absolutely loved from their wedding was all of the fantastic details. From their menus to the table numbers, everything was completely personalized. And my favorite of all had to be the adorable little nutcracker placecard holders!

And now for some images of Heather and Peter themselves! First… having a little fun:

A little Vogue-ing in the lobby of the beautiful Hawthorne Hotel:

And finally they braved the freezing cold so we could have some fun outside with the beautifully lit hotel behind them. Isn’t Heather’s coat just gorgeous!

Now Heather and Peter are relaxing on their honeymoon! And we just can’t wait for them to come back home in time to see their entire website!
