A little rest and relaxation

What an absolutely amazing year this has been for us! It’s been a year filled with so much love and fun all enjoyed with some great new friends that we’ve made along the way. We’d just like to say thank you to each and every couple that let us be such an integral part of their wedding day and to every family that let us peek in on your lives briefly for a portrait session. There’s so much emotion and so many memories tied to these events, and it’s so special for us to be just a small part of that.

It’s kind of hard to believe that another season has come and gone and while we’ll still be busy with portraits all winter long, our wedding schedule will be pretty quiet over the next two months. So after a long and very happy wedding season, we’ll be taking a couple of weeks to just catch up on some rest and relaxation and get ready for another great year!

So this is also just a quick announcement that our office will be closed from January 8 - January 28, 2007. We’ll still be checking emails and our voicemail during that time, but we may not be able to get back to every message with our usual quickness. The blog will probably also be a little quiet, but I promise to pick right back up in just a few weeks!

So thank you again to all of our couples and families for making last season such a wonderful year and for letting us try all kinds of fun and unique ideas with you. We truly appreciated your letting us stretch our creative minds and hope that you enjoyed the results as much as we loved having fun with you! And we look forward to even more of it in the next year!

Much love,
Rene and Melissa

Amy and Jay’s New Year’s Eve wedding!

What an amazing way to end the year! Amy and Jay had one incredibly beautiful wedding on New Year’s Eve! I’m not even sure where to start!

Amy and Jay are a fantastic couple that we met about a year and a half ago. We knew right away that we were all going to be have a great time together and just hearing about all of their plans for the past year and half really made us look forward to being able to spend an entire day with them. They had their reception at the beautiful Hyatt Regency in downtown Boston - and there’s no where else you’d really rather be with all of the festivities going on around the city! Then, when they told us recently that they left a 3 hour gap between the end of the ceremony and the beginning of the cocktail hour because they wanted to make sure they would have plenty of time to get some really creative and artistic photos - we were on pins and needles with anticipation! They are such a gorgeous couple and so ready for anything, so we went in with very high expectations!

Since there are so many variables when planning a wedding and especially when planning one on New Year’s eve, Amy and Jay took no chances and hired a wedding planner to help keep everything straight. Well, they definitely hired one of the best! Susan Normandin from Norman Event Professionals (www.normandinevents.com) was INCREDIBLE! I’ll be honest and say that I have no idea how much work Susan did behind the scene. But what I do know is that the entire day from the moment Amy began getting ready to the last song at the reception was so very smooth and perfectly executed. Anyways, if anyone is thinking about a wedding planning or even a day of coordinator, I would definitely recommend talking to Susan!

So now onto some photos so you can see how much fun we had with Amy and Jay!

First here’s a glimpse of Jay as he was waiting in the back of the church for Amy to arrive. I’m thinking this is one of the happiest grooms I’ve seen in a long time!

Right after the ceremony, Amy and Jay stopped at a pond so that we could take some photos (and have a quiet moment together) just before the sun set. Love that blue, blue sky behind them!

And now for just a quick detail. The centerpieces that they had chosen were so beautiful and created the most romantic and elegant setting. Their centerpieces alternated between low arrangements of flowers surrounded by taper candles and these gorgeous candelabras. The scene was truly breathtaking when you walked into the ballroom for the first time.

Before Amy and Jay headed over to their cocktail hour, they braved the cold (and snow that had fallen the day before!) to get some great night images around the city. We went everywhere with them! Here’s one of Amy by herself with the phenomenal cape that was custom made for her. Rene and I both fell in love with this cape and we had tons of fun with it!

Here’s another close up. Amy’s just showing it all off here - gorgeous eyes, great smile …

And we got so many great images of Jay as well. It was torture to try and pick one out for the blog. Rene and I are torn about our favorites (which is always a good thing!) so here’s one of the many of Jay, this one taken outside the old Paramount theatre. Such a great backdrop for a very debonair-looking Jay!

Amy and Jay are now enjoying a very well-deserved two week honeymoon! I know they’re going to be checking in regularly to see their blog entry, so we just want to tell you guys how much we loved being with you all day on Sunday and truly cannot wait to see you again when you get back. We’re so excited for you to see the rest of images!

Meet the Schimpf family!

I dare you to try and not smile when you see that adorable little munchkin chewing on his fingers! Isn’t he just precious?? We’d like you to meet Jackson! We first “met” Jackson when we did a portrait session with his mom and dad last year. Keri was actually just newly pregnant with Jackson (and you never would have known it - she was so tiny!) and so now that Jackson is 7 months old, she and Rick wanted to have another session this time with the entire family.

Part of the problem - and I’m sure new parents everywhere will understand this - is that Keri and Rick were so busy taking pictures of Jackson that they realized they really didn’t have any of the three of them together! Keri is an avid photographer herself so it was fun for her to actually put the camera down and get to play in FRONT of it this time! And it was definitely fun. Jackson is such a happy baby and even though he was starting to teethe he was laughing and smiling the entire session! Here are a few more of our favorites:

Here’s Rick taking a break with Jackson who was completely enamored with what was happening outside:

We are so, so excited for Keri and Rick to see the rest of the photos on their website very soon. We can’t wait to get together with you guys again soon!
