Heather and Matt’s Wedding

And here it is! Our official start to another fabulous wedding season with lots of fun couples and great venues. And personally, we couldn’t think of a better way to start than with Heather and Matt’s wedding!

You might remember Heather and Matt from their engagement session a few weeks ago. We had so much fun around Charlestown and couldn’t wait for this past weekend to get here! Heather and Matt are a very laid back couple and told us over and over again that the focus of their wedding would be on their friends and family. They didn’t want a stuffy atmosphere and they truly went out of their way to make sure everyone was having fun!

They also picked an incrediby unique location for their ceremony and reception at the Peabody Essex Museum. Their ceremony was held at the beautiful, two-story Phillips Library. They wrote their own vows and it took everything I had to keep the lump down in my own throat as we photographed them saying their beautiful vows through tears.

Because Heather and Matt saw each other before the ceremony, they were able to enjoy almost their entire cocktail hour with their guests which was a huge treat for them! But enough chatter - on to some photos of their big day! Here’s just a sneak peek until their entire website is ready….

First, the very handsome Matt, taken by Rene when he met the guys before the ceremony for some one-on-one time:

And now one of my favorites of Heather. Some of you may already know about my little obsession with restrooms. Don’t laugh… We have some seriously gorgeous restrooms around here! Heather got ready at the Hawthorne Hotel and this restroom was no exception. What really got me was the lighting that we found there:

It was really hard for me to pick out my favorite portrait of Heather. She is so gorgeous - she just smiles and we instantly have a great image! After Heather and Matt saw each other for the first time and enjoyed a private moment together, we had some fun with their families and then even more fun with the two of them together. Here’s another one of our favorite images around the museum. These guys even make an ordinary staircase romantic!

Another great highlight was the reception itself, of course! Heather and Matt had a phenomenal band performing the entire night - Rare Form. We’ve worked with them so many times over the years, and they are without a doubt one of our favorite bands ever. They are so talented and truly know how to keep everyone on their feet all night. To prepare for the nonstop dancing they knew was coming, Heather and Matt actualy took dance lessons and they were good! And I mean REALLY good! Especially when they perfectly pulled off fancy moves like this one:

There were so many amazing pieces of their wedding from their personal vows, to the wonderfully hilarious and touching toast by Matt’s best man and watching Heather and Matt dance the night away with their friends. It was definitely special for us to be there with them and an amazing start of the year! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Heather and Matt!

Isabel is growing up!

.

Look at our little girl growing up! This adorable little girl is Isabel and we’ve known her for every day of her life. We even know her before she was born! We photographed her mom and dad’s engagement session, then their wedding and now we’re watching her grow up, too.

This is actually Isabel’s 3rd portrait session and she’s not even one year old yet. She’s a pro at this stuff (she’s even pretending that she doesn’t see the camera in this photo!) Since babies change so much just in the first year of their lives, Isabel’s mom and dad wanted to be sure to document their little girl growing up and going through all of those “firsts”. Her first tooth, her first steps - we’ve been so incredibly honored to be there for all of it so far! Here are a few more of our favorites from that afternoon. It was so hard to choose!

Isabel’s big cousin and trusty sidekick, Jamison, also came along for the session and this is one of those “awww” images of the two cuties together. Jamison is just a little bouncing ball of happiness and she’s so much fun to photograph.

.

And another of little Jamison all by herself. Every time I see these beautiful blue eyes, I just melt!

.

And this was our very last image of the day when all of that running around and having fun finally caught up with Isabel. We can’t wait to see you in a few months!

The Dorfman family

A few months ago we received a call from someone who had a pretty unique idea for his staff. It was right around the holidays and he wanted to find something to give his employees that would be really special to them and that each of them would actually be able to use. So he purchased gift certificates for a family session for everyone and even included a credit that they could use towards reprints afterwards. It’s pretty obvious that he is one of the coolest bosses ever! Okay, I’ll admit I’m a little biased, but judging from the reaction he got when delivered the gift certificates to his staff, I’m guessing they probably felt the same way, too. :)

The Dorfman family were the very first ones to redeem their gift and we got to spend an fantastic afternoon with both Gerry and his wife along with their extended family. Since their kids are adults and have families of their own, it’s not all that often that they have a chance to get together at the same time. His son actually lives in California, so it was a real treat for everyone and it was fun to be in the middle of all of the excitement. Without a doubt, the stars of the session were their two gorgeous granddaughters. They weren’t shy even a little and we had fun chasing them around the house to get those infectious smiles! We can’t wait to see you all again soon!

Heather and Matt

.

Heather and Matt are definitely our kind of couple! They know exactly what they want and nothing’s going to stop this dynamic duo! We met with them for the first time this past December for their April wedding. They booked us less than 24 hours later and then just a few short weeks later we spent an afternoon together in Charlestown for their engagement session!

Heather and Matt live in Charlestown and thought it would be fun to roam around that great town and see what kind of trouble we could get into. It was chilly but they raised the temperature enough with their chemistry and fun personalities so I don’t think any of us even noticed the weather!

Now they’ll be getting married at the gorgeous Peabody Essex Museum in just under two weeks! They’re going to have a beautifully intimate ceremony and reception and they’ve picked such a beautiful location. But we’re most excited about getting spend an entire day with them this time. So you’ll definitely be seeing more of this cute couple soon!

We’re back!

Whew!!! We’ve been on an absolute whirlwind for the past 8 weeks! I’m so embarrassed that the blog hasn’t been updated recently. But get ready - we have a lot to share so we’ll be making up for it over the next few weeks!

Our trip to Europe was phenomenal and we have so many images to share with you. I also spent the last two months planning a huge international convention for professional photographers in Las Vegas. We had over 8 countries represented including Germany, the Netherlands, Malaysia and of course plenty of pros from the US and Canada. We had about 600 wedding and portrait photographers in attendance. It was so fantastic to catch up with some old friends and make lots of new ones. Even though it was a lot of work, we also came away completely inspired and pumped up for the new wedding season. So many ideas and things we want to do and we’re just itching to get going. Thank goodness we don’t have to wait long!

And we just wanted to also say thanks so much for all of the emails and notes while we were MIA! We missed everyone! Now just keep checking back to see what we’ve been up to!
