Lauren and Brian!

We had quite a busy weekend and we can’t wait to show you why! We started on Saturday with Lauren and Brian’s wedding at the beautiful Harding Allen Estate on a perfect summer day. Lauren and Brian exchanged their vows on the rear manicured lawn under a bright blue sky and then took advantage of the entire estate and an elegant tent for their reception.

We originally met Brian when we photographed a family session for his entire family last May at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester. We got together with his parents and his brother, his aunts and uncle, cousins and his grandparents, too. You can read all about their family session here! Brian’s aunt is our favorite makeup artist in the entire world, Kim Fosher and so we were just so incredibly excited to see Brian’s entire family again last weekend and to finally meet the rest of Lauren’s family as well!

We love Lauren and Brian to pieces and we had SO much fun with them and with their entire wedding party all day long. Here are some of the reasons why!

This first image is a little stolen moment between Lauren and her mom. Her mom bought a special gift for Lauren and this is the exact moment when Lauren unwrapped it…

.

Once all of the girls were ready, we took advantage of the time we had before the ceremony to take a few photos of the girls together. I normally LOVE natural light - if I find a great window it’s going to be hard to tear me away from it. This time, though, I decided to use all of that light a little bit differently. The girls were oh-so-patient with me as I posed them all just so and had a little fun with silhouettes…

.

I did use all of that great window light with this next image, too. Lauren is just an incredibly stunning person - even when she’s dressed in jeans and a tshirt! Then with her hair and makeup just perfect and dressed in a gorgeous wedding gown, she was absolutely incredible! So I noticed this small alcove area in one of the rooms where some art was being displayed. I moved the art, helped Lauren climb right up onto the pedestal and was able to take this next image. She’s just so breathtaking, isn’t she??

.

I love that last image for so many reasons. One reason I love it so much is because after we helped Lauren down, I showed her this photo on the back of my camera. She just stared at it for a second, then looked up and whispered, “I look so beautiful!!” It was in that moment that I knew that Lauren didn’t even truly realize how amazing she is, which is also just another example of what an incredible personality she has as well.

Meanwhile, only 20 feet away from us at that moment, Brian was getting ready in another room! Here, Rene captured Brian’s mom helping him with all of those last little details….

.

And another one Brian and all of his guys. I LOVE that fantastic grin!!

.

.

We also snuck out after dinner for a little more alone time with Lauren and Brian together - one of our favorites? This one by Rene….

Lauren and Brian are now relaxing in the sun out in Hawaii.  We can’t wait for them to see the rest of their gallery the next time they check their email!! And we can’t wait to hear all about your trip when you get back!!

A perfect Martha’s Vineyard weekend

Longtime followers of our blog will probably be very familiar with our “Hanover” couples by now. It all started with Ashley and Ryan’s wedding in July of 2005 then was soon followed by Kristin and Jon’s wedding July of 2006 and then Nicole and Ryan’s wedding in October of last year! For newer readers of our blog, these couples are all part of a very, very close group of friends that have literally grown up together since pre-school. They’ve remained close through all the years since and now as everyone gets married, we’ve become very close to all of them as well. Not only to the couples that we have photographed but also to all of their families and all of their friends as well. At every wedding, we get to see so many familiar faces and there always a lot of hugs and tears and LOTS of laughing. I was just talking to Kristin last week and was trying to explain just how attached Rene and I have become to everyone. We’ve known everyone for a few years now and every wedding that we have had the honor of photographing has become a very personal event for us, too.

Well, last weekend it was Jill and Allen’s turn to celebrate when they exchanged their own vows on beautiful Martha’s Vineyard! What could be more beautiful than a summer wedding in August on Martha’s Vineyard?? Add a drop dead gorgeous couple to that and really, it’s all a photographer’s dream. It definitely was for us!

I don’t mean to gush, and I’m trying hard not to, but it’s so important for Rene and I to really convey how special it was for us to be there to see another great couple from our Hanover crew get married. What is completely amazing is that even though these girls have been friends since they were in preschool, they’re all very different and every wedding has been completely unique!

Jill and Allen really had an incredible dream wedding. They always knew they wanted to get married on Martha’s Vineyard because they both spend so much time there. That may actually be an understatement. Over the weekend that we were there, we couldn’t go anywhere without someone stopping Allen and saying hello and joking around with him. He knows everyone on the island!

They also had a very special location for their reception - they were able to hold the entire event at their friends’ beautiful home right on the island. Their home was just gorgeous and an elegant tent was set up on their property - it was so picturesque! Now (at long last, I know!) here are a couple of our favorite images from the weekend. And it was tough to pick out only a couple. We’re dying to show off their website because the entire day was filled with some many great moments that it’s hard to do their wedding any justice by posting only a couple!

First one of my all time favorite getting ready images. You see, as she was getting dressed, Jill had this fear that her skin would get caught in the zipper of her dress. (Can you say ouch?!?!) Her mom and maid of honor (the one and only beautiful Cara!) were super careful to make sure that wouldn’t happen, but you’ve got to love Jill’s face as she’s just dreading the thought of anything going wrong!

.

But no worries, Jill’s skin emerged from the ordeal completely unscathed! Jill had an amazing gown that truly fit her perfectly. She also had this gorgeous long veil. And even though it caused her some trouble because of all of the wind around the that day, Rene and I couldn’t get enough of it! Here’s one of Rene’s images that I just adore:

And some more of our favorites:

And an image we took of Jill and Allen while they were on Allen’s very cool bike…

It’s so hard to describe what a phenomenal wedding this was without your looking at the entire gallery. But then again isn’t that what weddings are all about? A once-in-a-lifetime occasion to share with your family and your friends and creating the kind of memories that you look back on in 50 or 60 years from now saying, “Remember when….”

Oh the stories these friends will be able to reminisce about!

Lauren and Glenn - prelude to a wedding

Great news!! Lauren and Glenn are getting married in 53 days, 14 hours and 0 minutes from right now. :) Not that we’re counting the minutes or anything!

To get ready for the big day, Lauren and Glenn scheduled their engagement session for last Thursday. Even though Lauren and I obsessively checked and re-checked weather.com every single day for a week, the weather on Thursday turned out to be as perfect as you can get! Since Lauren and Glenn are having their reception in downtown Boston at the Seaport Hotel, they decided to have their engagement session in beautiful Salem, MA. So we picked the Peabody Essex Museum as a meeting point and then used every nook and cranny we could find in that neighborhood! We had such an amazingly good time.

Glenn tried to tell us that he hates having his photo taken. I believed him - at first. Now I question the fact that he’s not moonlighting as an Abercrombie & Fitch model. :) A little bit of an inside joke, there. Someone actually stopped us as we were shooting Lauren and Glenn to see what was going on. Glenn very matter-of-factly informed the poor lady that he was in the middle of a fashion shoot. Had there been a pen handy, I would have convinced Glenn to sign an autograph for her.

In all seriousness, though, we had SUCH a good time with these guys and now the anticipation for their wedding is killing us! In the meantime, though, here are a few of our favorites from last week!

.

Now having a little fun (well…a lot of fun) with shadows. Thank you Lauren and Glenn for trusting us and following us into the most unlikely little corners! This next image was taken crouched underneath a fire escape. The shadow on the wall behind them was created from the sun shining through the grillwork on the fire escape. We hope you feel this one was worth it as much as we do!

.

And now you get to see first hand why I’m absolutely in love with Lauren’s eyes…

.

I love that last image! Lauren and Glenn are just so gorgeous!! Only 53 days, 13 hours and 50 minutes before we get to play with these guys again!!
