Spring’s here - Time to get back into shape!

Well, there’s no doubt that it’s been a pretty long winter with LOTS of snow! But now that the warmer weather is just about here we’ll be ready soon to start stretching those muscles and getting out in the sunshine again. And then there’s (dare I say it??) the beach in just a couple of months! I know, I know, between my deathly pale skin and my out of shape abs I’m in no condition to think about the beach either. But I definitely was motivated to get ready after our session with Kate last week!

Kate is a very talented personal trainer who just launched a new website, Fit In With Kate. Kate booked us to do a commercial shoot with her and some of her clients for her new website. It’s a fantastic change of pace for us and we had such a great time with Kate and her clients all afternoon. There’s no doubt that being healthy and working out does a body good after seeing Kate in action. She’s absolutely gorgeous and probably one of the most fit trainers I’ve seen. One of the best things about signing up with Kate is that she can come to you! That means there’s really no excuse about not having time to go to the gym or that it’s too far. And to prove it, Kate brought along some of her gear and a couple of her clients and then put them through an entire workout for us. It allowed us to photograph Kate in action so that future clients will know what to expect when visiting her website. The results were fantastic (and her clients were a little sore by the end of our shoot)! Here’s a sneak peek:

Here’s the stunning Kate herself:

Kate was so much fun to be around and her personality is so perfectly suited to be a trainer. Just being around her for one afternoon completely motivated us to want to set up some personal training sessions of our own to get back into shape!

A peek inside our new studio!

After many long months (and long evenings!) our brand new studio is finally ready! We’ve been receiving so many phone calls, visits and emails and want to thank everyone for every single one of them! We are so incredibly excited and can’t wait to finally share it with everyone. A lot of you have been asking when we would post some photos so after a terribly long delay because there was always “one more thing” that we wanted to get done, here they finally are. So welcome to our new studio and to our little “tour” of what we’ve been doing over the past couple of months.

First a little history lesson! The studio itself is located in an old mill complex in Peabody Square. Our building was built in 1884 and was originally a leather finishing complex. It’s been years and years since the building was used for that, and over the years the building was neglected and became more and more dilapidated. The current owner bought the building about 5 years ago and dedicated all of his time and resources into completely restoring the building back to its original beauty. We’ve seen the “before” photos so we know how much work it must have taken but from the moment you walk through door, you can see that it was all completely worthwhile. We now share the building with several other local businesses including a custom furniture making company, a cable television station and even a gourmet kitchen. Having that gourmet kitchen just down the hall from us means that we get to take in those wonderful cookie-smells all day long. (Bonus!!)

So now for a visual walk through so you can see what we’ve been working on all of these months! As you walk through our front door, the first thing that usually draws you in are the 20+ foot gorgeous wood ceilings and the great wooden beams throughout the entire studio. So here is the view as you first walk in:

Next, this is another view from the front of the studio looking towards the back.
- The reception area is in the foreground;
- Our meeting area just behind it;
- Further behind it still is our new viewing area (more on that later…);
- All of our workstations are just behind the half wall to the left; and
- Our shooting area is just behind those floor-to-ceiling drapes to the right:

And this is a “reverse” view - so this is now looking towards the front of the studio:

And just another angle of our meeting table and you can also catch a glimpse of our customizable shooting area. You’ll be able to see a more detailed view of that area next. Off to the left you’ll also see a little piece of our “portrait wall”. More details on that later…

And here are few different images of our new camera room/shooting space which we are very excited about! When we took this photo, it was set up for an engagement session that we had just done but it can also be completely customized for any type of session that we may have going on - a family session, a baby session, an intimate (or boudoir) session or anything else that may come up. In a couple of weeks we’ll be transforming this area into a workout center for a session we have scheduled with a personal trainer. This space definitely provides a lot of flexibility with the high ceilings, brick walls, and all of the different accessories we have.

Another angle:

And one more, with some super sexy guy in the mirror:

All the way at the end of studio, you’ll see our brand new state-of-the-art theater set up which we created especially for our viewing sessions. There’s definitely nothing in the world like seeing the images and reliving the memories of your session or your wedding on the big screen and with premium surround sound.

And here are a few more little details. Our portrait wall with some examples taken directly from our brand new “inspire guide” - a book that we have created especially for our clients with pages and pages of ideas and inspiration on how to turn your images in art for your home and office.

And I can’t forget our display of the recent magazines we have been published in:

I hope you’ve enjoyed our little tour! The only thing better would be to come in and see us, so we really hope to have everyone come in soon. We also have our very own signature mat that we’d love to have all of you sign before we hang it on our wall. We custom create and frame these mats for so many of our wedding clients, so we thought we’d make one for ourselves as well. So come on and add your name to our wall!
