Spotlight on a great designer

Our blog has been busy lately with all of the sessions that we’ve had over the past couple of weeks! And even though most of our portrait sessions and all of our weddings include images from both Rene and I, we do occasionally book sessions separately as well. For example, I photographed several intimate (or boudoir) sessions this weekend and Rene had a few sessions of a different kind that has kept him busy as well.

One of the sessions that Rene has been busy with was for a local furniture designer, Adam Simha. His company, MKS Design, custom designs and creates some very funky and cool furniture. He’s a fabulous designer and his pieces are so unique. So when he approached Rene about doing some commercial and product photography for him, we couldn’t wait to see what his latest piece was!

Adam brought over a new desk and bench that he created and just like most of his pieces, these were made of steel. Which means that although it looks as though it’s easy to transport and move around - they’re really not! These are solid, heavy pieces of furniture. And wow do they look cool!! Adam wanted these images to reflect the same contemporary and “clean” feel that his website has and so here are a few of the images that Rene just finished working on:

This session came out great and Adam was thrilled with the results. And since I’m one of Rene’s biggest fans and I can’t ever stop gushing about him, I couldn’t wait to share them with everyone!

Flora and John’s elegant soiree

Wow, we have been dying to post about this past weekend’s wedding! We’ve been so excited to share their wedding images with everyone. Flora and John are probably one of the sweetest couples you will ever meet. Besides their both being incredibly gorgeous, they have the best personalities and are just so warm. We couldn’t wait to get them in front of our cameras!

John is actually a pro when it comes to all things camera-related. He is a professional sports videographer. As a matter of fact, if you watched the Superbowl or the Masters Tournament this year, then you can be sure that you saw John’s work. How cool is that??

They were married in their hometown of Wellesley on a beautifully warm and sunny day and then had their reception at the always breathtaking State Room in Boston. Before we arrived at the State Room, though, John and Flora wanted to walk around the downtown area of Boston for their own private portrait session with us. We completely took advantage of the beautifully warm evening and all of the very cool buildings and streets around us and had so much fun together! Flora and John just really make such a stunning couple. As we walked around the downtown area, all of the cheers and applause were just incredible! And I can’t even tell you how many tourists stopped them to ask for a picture! So here is just a little sneak peek at some more of their portraits:

There’s just something I love about this first image. It was when Flora and John first arrived in Boston and Flora was showing off her absolutely fabulous Christian Louboutin’s! That’s two brides already this year that have worn gorgeous Christian Louboutin’s. It’s almost as good as owning a pair myself. Almost…

I just can’t get enough of Flora’s AMAZING laugh. When she smiles, the entire world lights up. And to be honest, as we worked on all of their images from the wedding, one thing we definitely noticed was that no one can make her laugh quite the same way that John can. I love that!

And I have to share some of the details from their reception as well. Their guests arrived just in time for a sunset cocktail hour overlooking the city as the sky turned all different shades of pink and blue behind them. It was just breathtaking and provided a perfect backdrop for dinner as well:

John and Flora took a week to settle back in after the wedding and will be leaving for their honeymoon in Anguilla this weekend. We hope you guys have a fabulous (and relaxing) time!

Jen and Sean’s engagement session

I say this all the time, but we really do get to meet the absolute best couples. We met Jen and Sean last September when Jen was in a wedding we photographed (Andrea and Chris - who also are featured BIG on our studio walls!). We had so much fun with them back then, so when Jen and Sean asked us to photograph their wedding this summer we were just bouncing off the walls with excitement!

These two are absolutely gorgeous and so much fun together. They’re both elementary school teachers and Sean surfs in his spare time. The funniest part is that they were so nervous about being in front of the camera! That was one of the main reasons why they wanted to schedule an engagement session - to try and get over those jitters before their big day. It was a great idea! Since this is school vacation week, it was perfect timing for them to take an afternoon off and head out to our studio and we spent the afternoon just chatting, laughing, and walking around our entire building photographing them together. We were able to get so many amazing portraits of them - it was impossible to pick just a few for the blog! But here are some of our favorites…

Gorgeous Jen….

Rene and I truly believe that being able to laugh together (and a lot) is key to any relationship. Well, Jen and Sean definitely have that part down! We did a whole lot of laughing and joking around all afternoon with them - it was so great! Now the countdown begins to their wedding in August. This is going to be one wedding to watch for - it’s going to be just gorgeous, right on the ocean, and definitely a lot of fun!

A family session before the big day

We had another great family come into the studio this week! Meet Heather, Kevin, Joe, Christian and Gavin! This was a really special session for us because we’ll be photographing their wedding in just a couple of months as well! Heather and Kevin will tie the knot this summer and instead of scheduling an engagement session before the big day, they opted to schedule a family session instead. We’re so glad they did!

We had such a great time with them and we couldn’t wait to post about it on the blog this week. Here are a few more of our favorites….

And meet Gavin - the very latest addition to the family! He’ll be three months old tomorrow. And he’s definitely one ticklish baby - to my never ending delight since this the reaction we’d get whenever he was tickled…

So you’ll definitely be seeing this gorgeous family again in just a few months after their big day! See you guys soon!

A baby session with a toothy grin (bonus!)

Meet Jack who just turned nine months old! Babies change so quickly during their first year, and a perfect way to always remember these precious early months can be with a portrait session. For example, Jack is not only getting bigger and bigger every day, but he’s also finding new teeth as well! There was no hiding those adorable little baby teeth coming in because Jack is definitely a smiley baby. And when he smiles, he smiles. This is no little smirk that we’re talking about, these are great grins and with those little baby teeth showing right through, it’s enough to just make you want to melt. We spent a fantastic afternoon with Jack and had a ton of fun getting him to laugh at us. The results were some great portraits showing off his happy personality.

Even though he’s not crawling just yet - Jack’s definitely this close to becoming mobile. He’s pulling himself up without any problems and now just needs that forward momentum. Any day now!!

A family session with lots of giggles and fun

It always amazes me how much little ones change in just six months! Last October, we met Sophie and her mom and dad for the first time when we spent an afternoon with her. (You might remember seeing the session here!)

And just recently, Sophie’s parents scheduled another session for their family. We had so much fun with them last fall and so we were really looking forward to seeing everyone again - and especially the incredibly bubbly and adorable Sophie! What an amazing time we had! Here’s a sneak preview at some of our other favorites from their session:

And I think this next portrait shows so perfectly that bubbly energy Sophie has. That adorable giggle of hers makes it impossible not to laugh with her each and every time. It’s just so infectious… I dare you not to laugh when you see this adorable little smile!
