A rocking senior session

….or shall we call it Taylor’s debut?? She’s bound to be “discovered” some day and we can all say we knew her “way back when”! We knew we were going to have a blast with Taylor and she was ready with several cool outfits and some gorgeous Steve Madden heels (I loved those heels!!). She also has incredibly stunning eyes that just blew me away. Taylor came into the studio for her session and so we were able to take full advantage of all of the great lighting and funky elements around our building. Here are just a couple more preview images:

Thanks so much for having fun with us, Taylor! We can’t wait to see you again soon!

Two times the fun!

What do you get when you take an adorable nine month old little boy and his spunky four year old sister and put them in a studio with lots of room to run around and play? You get a rocking good afternoon! We did just that when Evan came in for his very first portrait session with his big sister, Molly. Evan’s pretty stationary at this point in his life and is completely fascinated with his Spiderman toy and that turned out to be a winning combination for his entire session!

Whereas Molly is a perfect example of a fun, energetic four year old. I love this age because this is when kids are really starting to figure out what they like and what they don’t like and so our session together turned into a really great play date for her! It does mean that you have move quick and stay on your toes, though. Four year olds are quick! I absolutely adore this next portrait of Molly - it shows off her vivacious personality and great smile perfectly. And about .00005 seconds after this was taken she was already across the room and on to the next thing. I couldn’t stop giggling at her antics all afternoon!

We had such a great afternoon together and we can’t wait to see Evan and Molly again!

An adorable way to make an announcement

So we’ve been working hard all winter to create some really unique products for the new season and we’ll be posting some ideas here throughout the year to give everyone some really fun ideas for your own session!

We actually just finished creating some adorable birth announcements for a recent session, and we thought we’d share them with you! We just blogged about Kyla’s newborn session few days ago and her mom and dad asked us to create a customized announcement that was sophisticated and yet “girl-y” and Rene took on the challenge to create this very cute original piece:

The cards that her parents chose measure 5×7 and were printed on a beautiful linen-textured paper. They include matching envelopes so all that’s left to do is send them to your friends and family! We have samples available here in the studio so you can see and feel them in person as well. We’re always available if you have any questions or if you’d like more information on how to create your own original piece of art!

Annelena and John and the Boston Harbor Hotel

Our first wedding of 2008 was an absolutely amazing event! We’ve been able to get to know Annelena and John really well over the past few months as we got together for their engagement sessions, for dinner and just to chat and they are truly an amazing couple. They’re both so driven and successful and very close to their families and friends. Their wedding was definitely an international affair as family and friends travelled from all over the world just from the wedding. From Canada, to Venezuela and even Thailand, some serious air miles were logged to be there for the big day!

Annelena had the most amazing gown and then found a perfectly adorable little coat to go with it to protect her from the chilly air. The gorgeous view of Boston Harbor from Annelena’s suite:

And for the guys, a little tease of the gifts for the groomsmen:

One of our favorite parts of every wedding is the time that we get to spend with our couples for their own session. And after already having such a great time with Annelena and John at their engagement sessions, we were especially looking forward to this! We actually found a very cool bar inside the Boston Harbor Hotel and couldn’t resist using the soft and romantic lighting there for a few of their own portraits:

And you know that feeling when just everything is going so perfectly and falling into place? That was Annelena and John’s wedding. As we were strolling back to the reception after their private session, we suddenly heard loud pops and bursts of light - a surprise fireworks display right in front of us over Boston Harbor! It was breathtaking and we were all giddy at how perfect the timing was. And not to mention the most perfect way to end our session:

The rest of the evening was spent dancing and having a fabulous time and with a view of the Boston skyline. Annelena and John wanted the best for every detail of their wedding and that included hiring one very special band. The Larry Harlow Band is not your typical band - they are also recording artists that regularly tour to promote their music. As a matter of fact, they were playing at Scullers Jazz Club just the night before! Rene and I have been listening to these guys on XM for years so imagine our giddiness when we found out that they’d be playing live at Annelena and John’s wedding!

Annelena and John are - at this very moment - enjoying the trip of a lifetime while on their honeymoon. They’re in South Africa on safari and we are on pins and needles for them to come back so we can hear all about it!

Some other key details from Annelena and John’s wedding:
Ceremony location: St. Cecilia’s Church in Boston
Reception location: The gorgeous Boston Harbor Hotel with it’s breathtaking views
Coordinator: One of our absolute favorite coordinators! Heather Minicucci from Simply Inviting Weddings definitely kept everything running smoothly. She and her assistant, Melissa, were everywhere and did a great job and keeping everyone happy!

And baby (to be) makes three!

The studio has been absolutely buzzing with activity over the past few weeks as newborns, toddlers, and even puppies having been setting up appointments for their own personal session with us! Our latest session was held just this past week as we reserved the studio exclusively for Erin and Doug. We dimmed the lights, turned up the music and prepared for their very first maternity session.

It was absolutely gorgeous! Erin and Doug are expecting their first baby in just a few more weeks and asked us to document this moment in their little boy’s life. It was was his very first portrait session! So Erin and Doug arrived and as far as we’re concerned, they could have been coming in for a top magazine shoot - they’re just gorgeous. (Little known fact: Doug was actually recruited by the Ford Modeling Agency in college!) They even brought along their adorable Boston Terrier, Zoe for the session! Now this has to be where phrase “puppy dog eyes” comes from:

Isn’t she just adorable? She is so incredibly well behaved, too. So we just couldn’t resist letting her have her moment in the spotlight as well. And as the rest of the session? Take a peek for yourself and let us know what you think! Taken just as the last few bits of sun was setting:

Erin is just so gorgeous and I love this black and white portrait of her:

And another one we just melted over:

Even Erin and Doug haven’t seen the rest of the portraits from their session yet! They’ll be coming in soon for their viewing session and we can’t wait to show them. But truth be told, we’re even more excited for their brand new little boy to arrive very soon.

Congrats Erin and Doug! We’re just so happy for you!

Precious little newborns

Meet the newest addition to Lauren and Mike’s family - beautiful Kyla! Lauren had called us about a month ago (before Kyla was even born!) to set up a newborn session for her. She wanted to be sure that everything was scheduled so they could bring her right in after the big day. But of course, when you’re waiting to be born, I suppose it really doesn’t matter how organized your mom is. So when Kyla decided she was going to arrive a couple of weeks early we just moved our session date right up to accommodate!

And so Lauren and Mike came in this week with beautiful little Kyla and her big brother Rowan who is already 2 years old and we spent a glorious morning photographing all four of them together in the studio. Kyla was just two weeks old and she was absolute perfect. The best time for a newborn session is actually within the first two weeks after they’re born since this is when they’re still very relaxed and so content. And Kyla definitely lived up to that - she almost slept through the entire session!

We thought Kyla might actually sleep through all of the positioning and moving around but just towards the end we got to see those big gorgeous eyes. And don’t you just love that precious baby hair!

And two year old Rowan was so much fun to photograph, too. And he completely stole our hearts! What I loved most was how he’d be running around the studio having a great time and then would suddenly just stop and come back to check on Kyla and give her a little kiss on her head. I wanted to melt each time! Just a perfect big brother. Not to mention those stunning baby blue eyes…

We can’t wait to show Lauren and Mike the rest of the photos at their viewing session this week. And we’re counting the days until we get to spend another morning photographing this gorgeous family!
