A Boston engagement session

So even though Deena and Kris haven’t picked a wedding date just yet, we’ve already gotten together for a fabulous engagement session with them! As a matter of fact, they were engaged on June 28th and by June 29th we had already heard the great news and had set up an engagement session for them!

I should probably back up our story just a bit… we first meet Deena and Kris when Deena was a bridesmaid in Nicole and Matt’s wedding last summer. We really hit it off with Deena that day and just stayed in touch with each other after the wedding. Deena and I kept joking around about whether anyone would think it odd if she booked a photographer for her wedding before she was even engaged. (We both agreed that would be totally acceptable, by the way! :) )

Anyways, because we had been chatting for so long, we were so excited to hear the news when they got engaged just a few weeks ago! Kris completely surprised Deena by asking her to marry him while they were on a hike in Maine. They go hiking a lot (with their adorable dog) and so Kris really picked the perfect location to propose. Unfortunately, the fog and clouds were SO thick that day, that you literally couldn’t see more than 10 feet in front of you. You can just imagine the gorgeous backdrop at the summit just after Kris proposed, but those clouds and fog completely had them surrounded! What makes this an even better story, though, was that a stranger happened to walk by just after they got engaged and offered to take a picture with their camera. They soon found out that this man had proposed to his wife 10 years earlier at the same exact location. It was just perfect!

Although it was really cloudy and foggy the day that Kris proposed, there was nothing but bright sun and beautiful blue sky on the day of their engagement session. Since they live in historic Beacon Hill, Kris and Deena asked if we could meet them on the Esplanade in Boston and then walk around their neighborhood for their session. We really couldn’t have imagined a better location for them. And so here are some of our favorites from that afternoon…

Kris looking every bit as cool as he is in real life on a dock by the Charles River…

Kris’ mom actually made a beautiful silk dress for Deena just for their engagement session. It’s absolutely stunning and fit Deena so perfectly (there’s just nothing like a custom tailored dress…)

A little fun with Shadows and some bold colors…

And you know how much we love our alley ways - and the alleys in Beacon Hill are of course every bit as beautiful as the neighborhood itself. We found this gorgeous ivy covered wall in one and couldn’t resist having some fun…

We had SUCH an amazing time with these guys and can’t wait to for their wedding! Right now the plan is for a 2010 wedding, but you’ll definitely see this couple before then. They’ll be making their television debut very soon when they’re featured on a show on HGTV - filming begins in just a couple of weeks! We’re super excited for them and the producers will even be using a few of the images from their engagement session on the show! Stay tuned….

Sindhu and Ajit’s beautiful wedding honoring family and tradition

Just a couple of weeks after getting together with Sindhu and Ajit for an engagement session (you can see them here…), their wedding day arrived and we were so excited to see them again!

We knew just from chatting with them over the past couple of months that their wedding would be very unique and very special to them. Their ceremony and reception would include many traditions honoring their family and backgrounds and it was just such an honor to be able to document not only the traditions themselves, but the very close bond they have with their immediate family. There’s really no better way to explain it all than will some images so let’s get to it!

I began the afternoon with Sindhu, her mom and all of her bridesmaids as they got dressed and ready for the ceremony. Here, Sindhu was finishing with those last few details before we left…

Meanwhile, Rene and Ajit were at the church with the rest of the groomsmen waiting for the ceremony to begin in a back room at the church …

After a beautiful and very unique ceremony, everyone headed to the Newton Marriott for the cocktail hour and reception. The Marriott was a perfect location for Sindhu and Ajit since they needed to accommodate nearly 300 guests - many of whom were traveling from out of town!

We took some time for another private session with just Sindhu and Ajit and had an absolute blast with them. I love this next sequence of images because it really shows why Sindhu and Ajit are just a gorgeous couple. They’re both just stunning to begin with, but combined with their wonderful personalities and truly caring spirit, you can’t help but fall in love with them as soon as you meet them. These next few images capture them beautifully - it was a great moment when they burst out laughing after joking around during our session:

Once the reception began, there were so many beautiful details and ceremonies to capture…Here is a beautiful moment during their first dance:

And after Sindhu changed into a gorgeous sari during the reception, a special performance was prepared just for them. The colors and the choreography were just incredible!

Sindhu and Ajit have just returned from two weeks in Fiji and we’re dying to hear all about it! In the meantime, we just have to thank you again for letting us be there with you and capture your wedding!
