Trends and Traditions – an event planner’s day

So I get to work so many wonderful event planners here in Boston while photographing weddings. They really make the day go so much more smoothly and let my couples truly enjoy the day. There are some event planners that are just plain fun to be around, too. Enter Trends and Traditions, a group of women that I’ve known for years and have been able to work with many, many times. (You find their website here…) So when they called up and said they needed some images of themselves to show their creativity and also their fun personalities, I couldn’t wait to get them into the studio. They showed up with a car full of supplies complete with champagne and popcorn and it turned into a fun party that lasted into the evening (what else did you expect from event planners??). We had an amazing time and here’s a peek at some of the results:

The Kelly Family at Nahant beach

We spent a beautiful summer day recently with the Kelly Family on Nahant beach on the north shore. Tim and Tara told us they definitely wanted us to capture their family as they enjoyed a day at the beach playing with their beautiful boys and that’s exactly what we did. I love on location sessions like this where I get to have so much fun with our families in a setting that they’re really comfy with. I hope you enjoy!

Portrait News — A Spring Portrait Special

It’s that time of year in Boston! The Red Sox are about to celebrate the season opener at Fenway, the trees are starting to bud and we’re starting to see some poke through the ground. It’s an exciting time of year for New Englanders for sure and here at the studio it also means that the begins to get a workout with our families calling to schedule their annual portrait sessions!

So to celebrate this annual rite of passage, Tirado Photography is announcing our fabulous Spring Portrait Special that is now going on. Every spring we put together a special promotion and this year we’re offering an incredible incentive to book your session right now. If you book your portrait session before May 1st, your session fee will be only $95. (A savings of over $200 from our normal session fee!) We want to make sure there’s no reason for you not to schedule a session with your family, your kids or even just your friends. So just a reminder to call the studio and book your spring session soon to make sure you get your choice day and times confirmed. Our available weekend session times are booking up quickly and we also have some week day and early evening sessions available as well.

The Dennison Family – growing up!

Kristin and Charlie have been in front of camera probably more than any other couple we know. We’ve known them since they first got engaged, photographed their wedding and have been scheduling regular portrait sessions with their new and expanding family. It’s so special for us to be a part of our couples’ lives over so many years! Not to mention how much we fun we always have now that we know each other so well! Our latest session with Kristin and Charlie included their incredibly gorgeous babies – Audrey, who is growing bigger and bigger every couple of months that we see her; and Chase who is a boy’s boy if we’ve ever seen one! Just a perfect beautiful, cuddly smiling little boy. Take a peek at our latest session held at the Boston Public Gardens:

Kristen and Thong – A steamy night session

We also love couples that are willing to push the envelope and do something that’s a little extraordinary and unique. Kristin and T definitely were that couple! How we met Kristin and T is a great story, too. We were photographing a wedding were they were guests. I saw them dancing during the reception and completely fell in love with them. T was also an aspiring photographer at the time (he has since taken then leap and is a fabulous professional photographer now!) and asked Rene some questions during the night about his equipment. Before the end of the night, I pulled Kristin and T aside and told them that I wanted to photograph them. There were no if, ands or buts, I wanted them to book a session with us. They laughed and we stayed in touch with them and soon become great friends. Kristin and T are an awesome couple and we love them to pieces and always have a fabulous time with them. They thought we were kidding, but were dead serious and wanted to book a session with them. But not just an everyday session, a sexy, romantic session that would suit their personalities and the love they have for each other. We finally picked a date and had the best time together. This type of session is available for all of our couples – whether it’s for an engagement session or any other type of portrait session. We hope you enjoy the results from this one!

Sharon and Frank – Day One session

Just a few days ago, we blogged about Sharon and Frank’s gorgeous wedding that was held at the Boston Harbor Hotel. In addition to getting to spend the entire day with them at their wedding, they also asked us to come spend an afternoon with them in Maine while they were on their honeymoon for a “Day One” session. A Day One session is a perfect excuse to get dressed up again and spend some quality time together while getting some great creative and romantic images that you may not always be able to have time for on your actual wedding day. We were only too excited to spend the day with Sharon and Frank again and roam the beautiful beaches of Cape Elizabeth, Maine. We all then finished it the day with the most amazing lobster dinner that we’ve ever had – lobsters that were literally caught across the road just a few hours before. It just doesn’t get much better than that. Enjoy this sneak peek of our day:

Nina and Chris – a newlywed portrait session

Nina and Chris contacted us about six months after they were married to ask if they would be able to schedule a bridal portrait session because they wanted to work with us. Imagine the possibility of having a session where you’re all dressed up as beautifully as you were at your wedding, but without any time constraints or pressure – we were so excited for them! They weren’t able to take many portraits at their own wedding so they thought this would be the perfect opportunity to work together and also get some of those beautiful portraits they were hoping for. So we met them on a beautiful summer afternoon in downtown Boston and had the best time with them! We laughed and played until the sun went down and loved every second together. Enjoy the results!

Thomas and Jack

It’s been over a year since you’ve seen little man Jack on our blog! And you’re going to be just as shocked as we were at how big he grew. Jack’s family scheduled a new session in the studio so we could see the now very tall Jack and also meet his new baby brother, Thomas! I tried to spend much of the session convincing their mom and dad to have more babies….Jack and Thomas are so adorable and so HAPPY all the time that I think a few more of them in the world would be very nice indeed!

Although Jack is much taller, was able to run around the studio this time and a lot more on top of his head….his beautiful toothy grin still hadn’t changed:

And we got to meet baby Thomas who is the same age that Jack was the last time we got together. I love this age!

The next time we see Thomas he’ll be running around the studio, too, and we’ll have two big boys to chase around. Good thing I have long legs and can keep up! Can’t wait to see these guys again very soon….

Jillian and Sean

Jillian and Sean are huge foodies like we are. And then we found out that they like to travel just as much as we do, too. We spent about an hour when we first met just comparing our favorite restaurants here in Boston and around the world. We just knew we were in love. So photographing their wedding in (October) is going to be a seriously good time. (And if I were of the betting sort, I’d say they’re probably going to have good food, too…).

Before then, though, Jillian and Sean wanted to come into the studio for an engagement session. They didn’t want anything over the top – just something simple, easy and all about them. Trying our best to avoid all topics on food and travel…afraid that the session could then last a couple of days, easily….we had the best afternoon with them! Here are a few of our favorites:

In exactly two months and two days we’re going to be spending the day together with Jillian and Sean again at their wedding and we can’t wait to see them!

Concetta, Jaron and Jiji – A young family making big things happen!

Concetta rang our studio recently asking about setting up a portrait session for her and her family. Not just any portrait session. She was very clear that they were not interested in a stiff pose with static smiles pasted on and it absolutely needed to show some personality. “Music to my ears”, is what I secretly was thinking as she cheerily chatted with me about her family. It turns out that Concetta and Jaron were not really interested in a family portrait at all, but instead some environmental portraits of themselves which they could then use to promote their brand new endeavor. So we scheduled a session for them in the studio and absolutely loved the energy they brought with them. This is one couple that is has their priorities right on so many levels and the results can be seen in how successful they are. There’s no doubt that they will accomplish everything they set out to do and we truly wish them the very best every step of the way!!

Jaron is very comfortable in front of people (he needs to be… he’s also a pastor!) and he definitely had fun in front of the camera!

Jaron and Concetta just also had a BEAUTIFUL baby girl, Jiji. She was such an angel during the entire session and was just content watching up roam all over the studio having fun. So before they left we couldn’t resist getting a few portraits of Concetta and Jaron loving their baby girl…

It was so amazing to meet a couple who is so energized and happy and motivated to do some great things in their lives. We are so looking forward to staying in touch with them and hearing all about their successes!
