A lot of you may know that one of our favorite things to do - besides our love for photography - is to travel! We actually have a great big framed map of the world in our office with little pins indicating everywhere we’ve gone so far and we just love adding more pins whenever we have chance.
Well last week, we got to combine both of our great loves when we organized a conference for professional photographers in Chicago for a professional association we also work with. This was a seminar specifically designed for professional wedding photographers and we invited four different top photographers from around the country to cover issues relating to business, techniques, marketing and other topics along those lines. It was a LOT of work, but I’m very happy to report that the entire conference was a huge success! A highlight of the conference was when we brought in several models so that the attendees could practice for themselves all the various shooting techniques that were being taught. Since we were busy coordinating the event and were often running around taking care of details, Rene and I didn’t have much time to actually sit and take in all of the seminars. But after watching all of the attendees have fun with their models, we just couldn’t resist snagging one of the couples for ourselves. Although we only borrowed them for a few minutes, it was still plenty of time to have some fun with them around the hotel. Here were a few of the resulting images:
Taken in a rather ordinary-looking hallway in the hotel:

Now a lot of you already know that I LOVE shooting in a good bathroom. Find me a bathroom with great lighting and some interesting elements and I’m liable to spend a lot of time in there. Well, I couldn’t resist this time either. So here’s one of mine from the ladies’ room. (Had to make sure no one was in there before bringing our “groom” in!)

And a more modern twist, again by Rene, taken right in the front lobby of the hotel:

So even though putting on a conference like this is a ton of work, it was completely worth it after hearing all of the positive feedback from the photographers in attendance. We’re now starting to get ready for similar seminars next year in San Antonio, London and then a big conference in Las Vegas! It all about keeping it creative and fresh!
Well they may not have photographed our wedding… but if I had known Rene and Melissa then I’m sure we would have booked them. You all are some lucky couples! I can’t believe how much energy and passion they showed us in the little time we worked with them. And they worked so incredibly well together also.
I just love you two. Your awesome and I’m glad you took some images of us! Hope to see you again soon.
