Well, Rene and I decided that we would start 2006 with a bang and we have so many great and exciting ideas for ourselves and our studio this year! Last year was an amazing year as well and to celebrate (and to relax!) we planned a quiet getaway to the Dominican Republic. The island is already special to us because it is where we went for our honeymoon. Now, almost exactly seven years later, we were finally able to return! We decided to visit a different part of the island this time, though, and so reserved a week long stay at Sivory in Punta Cana. (www.sivorypuntacana.com) It was everything we hoped and then more! It’s definitely the perfect location to escape from the world and spend a completely relaxing week being pampered and spoiled to your hearts content. There are many large resorts in the area, but we opted for this small 55 suite hotel instead. There is no one building where you stay. Instead, several small “casitas” dot the property, and they each have 4 suites that have their own private entrance. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away! We also took a few images while we were there, of course! There was no way that a couple of photographers would leave their cameras at home while on a beautiful island! Hope you enjoy!
So this is a glimpse of what we saw every evening as we walked to have dinner. There were two restaurants located in this building and a balcony along the front and sides. Most evenings we decided to sit outside and eat dinner right next to the pool or along the ocean. It was so beautiful!

And Rene having a little fun with shadows one afternoon:

We also thought we’d have a little fun at the end of our trip, so we chartered a helicopter to take us to the airport on our last day. The helicopter actually landed right on the beach and then wisked us away for a tour of the island before landing at the airport. The hour long drive from the airport when we first arrived turned into a 15 minute flight on the way back! We saw some amazing sights from the air, including these beautiful natural coral reefs shaped like hearts!

Hi Melissa and Rene!
Love these pictures, especially of the heart shapped coral reefs! I can’t believe it’s been that long you’ve been married:)
I wish you continued success with the business, and most especially, your never ending honeymoon:)
Your cousin,
Martine
