Mary and Mike

Mary and Mike were married on a beautiful Saturday afternoon last week! This wedding was definitely all about close family and friends. It was so obvious to me as soon as we started that everyone involved in the wedding was really close to Mary and Mike and meant so much to them. It’s so wonderful to be around that kind of energy all day - this is really an amazing way to spend our weekends!

One special example of how their wedding was centered around family and friends was with Mary’s wedding dress. Mary’s mom passed away but Mary was still able to keep her memory close because she had her mom’s wedding dress altered and was able to wear it at her own wedding all these years later! It fit her beautifully and was just such a special detail of the wedding that we will never forget.

Mary and Mike are also both very laid back and not very comfortable being the center of attention but have a hilarious sense of humor. That’s why they stressed over and over again to us that they were really hoping for casual fun portraits of themselves and their families and really wanted to focus on the actual events of the day. Getting fun and casual portraits was so very easy with them because everytime we left them alone for a minute or two they would start chatting and laughing and joking around with each other. It was great! The photo at the top of this post was taken when we actually had to “interrupt” them for a minute - sorry guys! I just love it when couples have so much to say to each other that they can’t wait to be alone after the ceremony!

Another great moment was during the reception. Mary and Mike were taking a moment at the far end of the ballroom when Mike’s daughter and Mary’s new stepdaughter, Sarah, came to stand with them. Suddenly all three of them were entangled in a group hug. It was a beautiful moment when, for just a few moments, no one else seemed to be around. Here’s the photo we quietly got of that very moment…

And here’s another one of Sarah near the end of the night. I think it’s safe to say that Sarah is just not camera shy, so we had lots of fun getting some great photos of her all evening!

Mary and Mike are now on a nice long - and well deserved! - honeymoon. We can’t wait for them to get back and see the rest of their photos!
