Michelle and Ken’s wedding…THE Boston event

So what were YOU doing last weekend? If you weren’t at Michelle and Ken’s wedding, then I just may have to argue that you were not having as the rest of us were!

Michelle and Ken were married in the Back Bay at St. Cecilia’s church and their reception was at the beautiful Harvard Club. The week before the wedding, we met Michelle and Ken for lunch downtown and had fun visiting the Harvard Club and hearing about all of the last little details for the wedding. So needless to say, we were on pins and needles waiting for the big day!

Michelle and Ken were determined to enjoy every single second of their wedding. And so when the day began, Rene and I found both of them completely relaxed and soaking in every moment! I picked out 17 - seventeen! - images to post as a little preview for Michelle and Ken’s wedding, but Rene convinced me to pare it down a bit so we could finish working on the rest of their website. :) So here are just a couple of our favorites!!

Michelle wore a stunning Monique Lhuillier gown that fit her absolutely perfectly and had the most beautiful beaded detail at her waist. Before we left for the ceremony, Michelle, her bridesmaids and I took a little bit of time to take advantage of some of the GORGEOUS lighting that exists everywhere at the Harvard Club. I found exactly what I was looking for in small sconce mounted to the wall that we used to create some beautifully dramatic lighting. The result is one of my favorite portraits ever…

Next, the enormous double staircase and huge window in the lobby of the Harvard Club was the perfect setting for Michelle as she walked downstairs as her dad waited for her.

After their beautiful ceremony, there was quite a surprise waiting for Ken. Ken loves the sound of bagpipes and so Michelle secretly arranged for a bagpiper to arrive at the church once the ceremony was over. The stunned look on Ken’s face as the bagpiper made his way down the aisle to them was just precious! Ken never suspected and he could barely contain his excitement and surprise. Michelle sent us a note just a few days before the wedding (thank you, Michelle!) so Rene was ready and waiting for Ken’s reaction as it all unfolded. What a fantastic surprise!

After the ceremony was over, we all made our way to the Boston Public Garden for all of our family and wedding party photos and also were able to spend lots of time with Michelle and Ken by themselves. I have to tell you, their wedding party was probably one of the FUNNIEST weddings parties we’ve ever had the honor of being with all day long. My belly literally hurt from laughing so hard with these guys! We then made our way back to the Harvard Club and were greeted by one of the most elegantly decorated rooms. If anyone is interested in classic, elegant details, you’re going to want to see this wedding. Rene and I spent so long photographing all of the details - we were in heaven! Everywhere we turned there was another little touch. From all of the candles lining the balconies around the ballroom and the pillar candles atop both fireplaces to the gorgeous silk overlays on each table, everything was ready to be showcased in a magazine.

It truly all paled in comparison to Michelle and Ken, though, as they set the tone for the entire reception with their first dance that ended with a big kiss:

Michelle and Ken are still on their honeymoon and hopefully not even thinking about any of us back home! But their website is already up so they’ll be able to relive every moment again as soon they return!
