This was our yearly portrait session with Audrey, but this time there was a new addition – she brought along her new baby brother, Chase. We had a fabulous afternoon playing together in the studio and getting some great portraits for mom and dad at the same time. We couldn’t wait to share so here they are!

One thing that was so funny when we going through these images. We realized just how much Audrey reminds us of her mom, Kristin. We’ve known Kristin and Charlie for almost 6 years now (has it really been that long?!?). We photographed their wedding and it’s so much fun for us to watch their family grow. But when we were editing the images from our latest session, I kept hearing Rene say, “Audrey has the SAME expressions as Kristin!” I love it!

Audrey has such a fun personality and there’s no hiding how she feels at any given time. And so we proudly present to you….the many expressive faces of Audrey.

And now the very latest addition to the Dennison family! Chase is an amazing baby – so tiny and perfect. On top of that, he is such a mellow and happy little guy – he was so patient and let us do whatever we wanted:

This next image cracked me up. Chase and Audrey were sitting next to each other, very quietly and mellow-like. When all of a sudden, Audrey let out a happy screech from the very top of her lungs. We all jumped about 3 miles and then burst out laughing, but what cracks me up now, is Chase’s reaction. Kristin (their mom) reports that Chase is now so used to Audrey excitement that he doesn’t even flinch anymore.

We had such a blast with Chase and Audrey and it was so amazing to finally meet Chase in person. Kristin reports that everyone promptly fell into an exhausted sleep after our session. Congratulations again, Kristin and Charlie, on your newly expanded beautiful family! We’ll be getting together with Audrey and Chase again in August, but this time with their mom and dad for a full family session and we can’t wait to see them again!

So we quickly picked an afternoon when Paul would be able to bring the whole family by the studio, and we had such an amazing time playing with their kids. Paul’s wife, Melissa, is every bit as gorgeous as he described her. And we just fell in love with their kids!!

My best new buddy, Evi…. She’s not camera shy at all so we quickly discovered we had a lot in common.

And finally, Paul and Melissa wanted a family portrait that showed off each of their personalities….instead of one that just showed off their smiles! So after a little monkeying around we ended up with my favorites:

So I recently discovered that regular readers of our blog have fallen in love with Sophie just as much as I have. After every session we receive so many comments about her spunk, fun personality and great little smile. I say this every time, but we look forward to our sessions with Sophie so much. She may only be four years old, but she seriously has the best one liners. During our last session we were running around together and Sophie tripped over a rug and fell right down. Everything stopped for half a second…then Sophie popped right up and in her tiny sweet voice said, “I just did a face plant!!” and then kept right on running. I, on the other hand, was doubled over on the floor laughing so hard.

Well this week, our session was extra sweet because Sophie now has a brand new baby brother! Davey arrived earlier this year and we couldn’t wait to meet him as well! And now, we are so honored to introduce you to Davey:

I think happiness is an extra gene that parents must pass along. How else to explain that Davey has the same happy grin that Sophie has always has:

And we had lots of “Sophie” time, too…She’s getting so big!!

And here’s what makes my day, week, month after every single session. This is the laugh that I love most of all. It’s not just a “that’s cute” kind of giggle. This is a full on, belly jiggling, start-from-your-toes kind of laugh. It puts me in a good mood every time I see this:

A huge congratulations on Davey’s arrival. And another thank you from the very bottom of our hearts for letting us spend time with your gorgeous family again.

Now it’s exactly one year later and Lauren and Michael called to schedule their yearly session with us. I love photographing Rowan so much (and he knows that he has me wrapped around his little finger, too). And to say that we melted when we saw Kyla crawl in to the studio is an understatement. “Happy baby” doesn’t really describe Kyla – she needs something a little more descriptive….”a happy drop of sunshine” or “a giggle in a human form” might seem a little bit closer to the truth if you know what I mean. So our session got started right away and we didn’t want it to end. Here’s a peek at some of our favorites!

As a complete side thought…isn’t Kyla’s bib so adorable? I fell in love with it as soon as Lauren put it on her. Lauren always has the best accessories for her kids because she owns – and is the creative genius behind – Oostie Baby! If you’re a mom or if you’re looking for a gift for a mom and you’ve never heard of this site, you should definitely check it out. Lauren creates all of the blankets and accessories and it’s great because she’s a mom and uses her experiences to decide what babies would love best. The baby blankets are so soft and have different fabrics, like satin edging and chenille backs so babies love touching it. And you get to dress your babies up in cool funky fabrics, like Kyla’s bib!

We had such an amazing afternoon with everyone and we love Kyla and Rowan to bits so we can’t wait to see them again soon!!

It’s just like clockwork every year…. March begins here in Boston with a tease. One really warm day with lots of snow melting away followed by a good old fashioned nor’easter with snow and sleet. But that’s one of the reasons why we love Boston so much, isn’t it?? I suspect that we might all find just a little boring if it were any other way…

And just like clockwork every year, whenever the temperature warms up to a balmy 60 degrees, everyone drives with their car windows wide open, we pride ourselves in going for a walk without our winter coats, and the phone here at the studio begins to get a workout with our families calling to schedule their annual portrait sessions!

This week was no exception when we were treated to a beautifully warm weekend and we’ve been busy scheduling family, toddler and baby sessions all week. What a treat it has been to find out that several of our couples and families are growing and that we’ll be photographing so many newborn sessions over the next few months, too!

So now that spring is at our door, I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone to call the studio to book your spring and early summer session soon to make sure you get your choice day and times confirmed. Our available weekend session times are booking up quickly and we also have some week day and early evening sessions available as well.

We’ve been photographing Claire since she was a baby and we so look forward to her session every year. Claire and her mom and dad live right in Boston and she is definitely a city girl. At three years old since is so articulate, so stylish and SO much fun.

A session with Claire means a lot of running around and just having a ball. Claire is one of the funniest little girls we’ve met and we all spend most of the session laughing and joking around with one another. Claire showed up for our session in her very best princess outfit complete with a tiara, magic wand and – my favorite! – pink sparkly Mary Jane’s!

And here is that fabulous little personality that we love:

After all these years, Claire knows us very well which makes each session even more fun than the last. That also means that when I come up with an idea that might not make sense, Claire doesn’t have to humor me, either. I nearly died laughing after she looked to Rene for help with this one:

Then we had an outfit change right there in the park and Claire, without missing a beat, kept right on having fun!

What’s one of the very best things about having a session in the fall in Boston? The leaves!! And the very best thing about photographing kids at this age is that they are really discovering how much fun the different seasons can be. There is just nothing better than the pure joy and the belly laughs that result from tossing a big armful of leaves right into the air:

Claire wanted a few special portraits together with her mom, too and I just loved these so much…Can’t you just feel the love?

And this next candid image just tugged at my heart strings. Claire always subconsciously plays with her mom’s hair when they’re cuddling together. It’s one of those adorable little habits that she’s had since she was a baby and I just love it!

We love Claire and her family so much and truly look forward to their session every year! We can’t wait to see you again soon!!
